Finished up the rudder framing. It still needs to be sanded to an airfoil shape but first I need to sheet and install the trailing edge on the fin.
I used blue tape as a hinge and glued the...

Got the rest of the bulkheads installed. Next up I'll start building the rudder so I can get the control linkages squared away.

Got the engine aligned and the holes drilled for the engine. I cut 1/2" too much off the front of the fuse so I had to block up the mount.

RE: Don Lien 80" Hellcat Build

Thanks Lawrence. Here's a thought. I'm guessing the throws would be about the same as your Zcat. Maybe the next time you take her out,
you could measure them and let me know what they are. Might be...

RE: Don Lien 80" Hellcat Build

Tonight I cut the front off of the fuse. Used the part I cut off as a template to make a new firewall. Tacked it in place with some CA and poured some 30 min. epoxy around it with some glass cloth...

Nice work getting the answer. Interesting concept too.

If you wouldn't mind scanning the article, that would be great.
Thanks for the help Chad!

RE: Don Lien 80" Hellcat Build

Ran into my first major problem with the firewall today. This kit was designed to use a ST-2500 for power. Hence the funky firewall set-up.
I tryed mounting the engine to it and the prop was...

RE: Don Lien 80" Hellcat Build

Right you are LDM. Single slot Fowler. I've just never seen one go so far out without moving down.
They can be replicated pretty easily with the proper hinging. Although not a true Fowler, they...
