The trim tape looks great, and it also helps to hide masking problems.

To aid with adhesion, I set my covering iron to a "warm" setting, and run it over the tapes.

The heat really enhances the...

I'm with Robert.

You'll know when your mind and body are ready. If it's next year, so what ?

Take your time, Anthony.

RE: AMR 33% Waco YMF-5 Build

Congratulations, Anthony !

It's unfortunate that the rebuild was necessary, but the result is an excellent replica of the WACO airframe.

Well done.

RE: AMR 33% Waco YMF-5 Build

I've had that blue vinyl do the same thing. I have a little better luck with 3M fine line tape. It doesn't seem to want to "creep" as easily.

Masking those blisters is no treat, no matter what...

RE: AMR 33% Waco YMF-5 Build

I liked the Jenny. It was built to fly, rather than to scale competition standards. Like you, I would've added more detail.

All the models entered were built to a high standard. The judges must...

RE: AMR 33% Waco YMF-5 Build

After adding the vents and additional wiring, I went to the Dollar store and picked up some vinyl tiles. Total cost for the trailer was $33.00. The tile makes it easier to keep the floor clean. I...

RE: AMR 33% Waco YMF-5 Build

Nice trailer, Anthony !

I have a roof vent, and side vents in mine. The ceiling is insulated, too.

The roof vent has an RV cover over it. This allows me to leave it open in all types of...

RE: AMR 33% Waco YMF-5 Build

I use 3M fine line tape,1/8", that can be purchased at auto paint store. It goes around curves easily. I then use the painter's tape that Big Bird suggests.

reyn 3545: I used these products...

RE: AMR 33% Waco YMF-5 Build

I made a few touch ups, on my SW, using a bristle brush. I was amazed at how well the paint flowed out. I have not tried the foam brush method, per se.

Jerry actually suggested that I brush...

RE: AMR 33% Waco YMF-5 Build

Sounds like you are in good shape, Lonnie.

I used to work for a paint manufacturer, that was a DeVilbiss distributor. I wish that I would've been smart enough to pick up some spray guns when I...

RE: AMR 33% Waco YMF-5 Build

While I addressed my airbrush experiences, I omitted the use of the conventional and HVLP.

The SW was painted in my heated garage, early last February. I imagine the humidity was low, but very...

Lonnie

I never tried it, with an air brush. Nelson Paint has characteristics similar to Warbird Colors. I had clogging problems, with my air brush, using the WBC.

When I clean up after...

RE: AMR 33% Waco YMF-5 Build

Anthony and I disagree on the use of latex paint. If you decide to use latex, make sure that you buy exterior grade paints. The colorant used for interior paint, is not necessarily considered to be...

RE: AMR 33% Waco YMF-5 Build

Thanks, Anthony.

I had Gary make a large WACO graphic for Don Olsen's trailer. It's an HKS, and it came out very well. You may have seen his build of this big WACO on RCSB.

On the rib...
