I thought he said next Saturday. Mine won't be fixed for a bit. Need to order a new servo still, then put it in. That's to much work for me.

Great job Fabio, it turned out great. Why is there a pony in one of your pics? When I fix mine we will have to get both of them up together.

RE: Top Flite Giant P-47 Build

I guess you could really do it either way as long as the prop clears the cowl. But that extra 1/2" would probably be easier to balance. I'm not sure how much your motor weighs, but with a dle 55 I...

RE: Top Flite Giant P-47 Build

What's the length of your motor Fabio?  I had to add an extra 1/2" to my stock dle 55 standoffs for my prop hub to clear the cowl. It could of went out even alittle more.

RE: Top Flite Giant P-47 Build

32 oz tank is much bigger than needed. I have a 24oz tank in mine and that's plenty.   As far as the servo screws I dont think there is anything you can do.

RE: Top Flite Giant P-47 Build

I don't even bother using my dual rates on this plane. It stays on high rates the whole time, I'm also thinking about taking all the expo out.  Still need to figure out why the motor quits every 3...

RE: Top Flite Giant P-47 Build

Here is a link to the video.  If somebody can embed it that would be great. I'm thinking my motor issue is fuel related because every time it has sputtered before quitting.  I liked building this...

RE: Top Flite Giant P-47 Build

I'm thinking it might be. It's on the bottom of the motor box behind the muffler. But the voltage checks out fine.  Just can't figure out why it's always 3 flights. The former that the tail wheel...

RE: Top Flite Giant P-47 Build

Well I got 3 more flights today. The 2 blade 22x10 pulls better, but not that much more.  Also had a dead stick landing, for a 28# plane it floats well. This is the second time the motor quit on the...

RE: Top Flite Giant P-47 Build

Everybody out there said leave the 4 blade on. It looks great and flies scale like it should. I'm worried about not having power to get out of trouble if its needed.  I'll fly again next week with...

RE: Top Flite Giant P-47 Build

Your at 63 with a 22x10, that 4 blade is turning at 6000.  Not much of a difference.  I just think it should of pulled harder.

The  4 blade is making close to 26 pounds of thrust on the ground.

RE: Top Flite Giant P-47 Build

Thanks, what kind of power do you have? All my other planes weigh 28 pounds and have DA 120s on them. So having to fly a plane on its wing is new to me lol. I have to enter a dive before doing a loop...

RE: Top Flite Giant P-47 Build

Thanks guys. Found some issues that need fixed before it flies again. Going to try a 2 blade prop even though I don't want to. Not sure how these usually fly with a dle 55 but it feels sluggish....

RE: Top Flite Giant P-47 Build

Well I didn't get any video. Did put 3 flights on it and it flew good. Felt a little under powered to me. Not sure if really is, or I'm just used to way overpowered.  Motor quit as soon as I landed...

RE: Top Flite Giant P-47 Build

Right now it's looking ok. 7mph winds but kind of a cross wind. But that's no big deal. Fabio can't make the maiden, but I'm going to try to. Get somebody else to video it.

RE: Top Flite Giant P-47 Build

The plane is going to take just over 2 pounds on the nose to balance. With the weight it weighs 27 pounds.  The 20x10 4 blade with a dle 55 is making 25 pounds of static thrust.

RE: Top Flite Giant P-47 Build

Yes it's a 20x10 from TBM. The motor is not new it came off a Pitts python I sold.  Even if it was new I would just put it on and fly. I don't use break in props on any of my gassers.

RE: Top Flite Giant P-47 Build

Also not sure how this 4 bladed prop is going to pull.  I'm a 3D flier at heart so this war bird is going to be a change.  All my other planes have 2 to 1 power to weight ratios.  Its going to be...
