I had a gyro on rudder in a small Tf P40, had the gain slaved to retract channel. Retracts up gain goes to zero, effectively off. Worked well. I only used about 50% gain.

mmm that is exactly how an ARF of this nature should be treated, like a nice canvas.

Those surfaces should be able to be removed with a little effort. Probably only hot glue anyway. Perhaps...
