You will be fine. I see no reason you "must" have an optical kill. Throttle cut , along with a switch on the plane is the way many of us flew gasses for years.

9150's (ail,elev) is 200in oz at 6v

My thinking was the rudder needed a buit more...

What you using for throttle servo?  I, in the past have used just some cheapy  plastic analog that was laying around, but I can see where I might want to use metal gear and speedy for 3Ding.
