The Das Wunder might be something to look at. You could make it out of fanfold FFF if you don't like making ribs and covering and common buildng practices. CP snuck in with a bunch of pics before I...

There isn't 100 here but they are all world class. Likely 10 or so combat guys. A few countries are represented. Toronto used to get some from New York I think too, as well as the usual suspects...

http://www.balsabeavers.com/events/events.php It is on the chart as the Bean Field meet. F2D combat, 80MPH combat, a few kinds of stunt, profile, FAI, whatever, LA .25 racing (sometimes I will do...

Hey Speedy, We still have the same bunch of guys flying in Chatham Ontario north of Dresden. Same field I think. June 28th and 29th. They/we are all getting old with vision problems now too,...

I have to agree with CP, well maybe not burning the clothes. The power is about equal to glow, not quite as much as high nitro maybe. It will swing a bigger load, use less fuel but it is harder to...

The radar guy is expendable? Hey my job was making radar, for 25 years!!!. Pretty soon, my van may be expendable, getting close to 30 years old. Works good, but don't want to put a new windshield...

How could you get the air rpm with an audio tach? I got those numbers too, but the Doppler effect will make the higher rpm sound like more than it is, and the lower side lower. The only way to...

The .15 size is probably the best size motor overall. No .049 miniature problems, and cuts through the wind, and can go 200 mph. I will not post this in the gasoline engine forum threads though. ...

That is pretty fast for a motor with no pipe. You may find the brick wall at 160 something. (only?) Every little gain will multiply other gains though. The 10% nitro recommendation is likely from...

The old speed props for the .15's were 6x7, and 6x8". They used nitro then, so a bit less dia. would be needed now. If you can get enough rpm with a 7 or 8" pitch you might get some good speed. ...

I was told the larger sizes vibrate more, like on a .29 size. The smaller ones are fine, that is unless you touch the tip on the ground for takeoff. Then you have a blurred plane on a shaft run.

As long as you have a shutoff, there is a better chance of saving a single blade prop on landing. It will stick straight up when the motor quits and be out of the way. Of course there is always a...

I matched the ground rpm as "A" which equals about 26,400 rpm. (or 13,200 rpm if it is an octave below) The air rpm is kind of the average of the low and high. I made my own chart about 20 years ago,...

I figure 31,000 in the air, 27,000 on the ground. That is just kind of an educated guess with a pitch pipe. It is hard to tell with the plane moving and the change in pitch from the doppler. I...

I measured my lowly AP .15 (which is really only a .135) at almost 25,000 on one of those F2D props. I measured it on my home made pitch guage at 5" pitch and 6.2" dia. The blades are so thin that...

The old A speed planes used a 6"-7" P prop before pipes came along, and 80% nitro was allowed. 30,000 rpm works out to 210 mph. Your results will vary fer sure. The newer motors like to rev more,...

That combustion chamber, while small, is misleading because of the flush piston to the top of the liner, which is unusual to see. Another 1/4" dia. should be subtracted from the OD to look like a...
