The stock CA hinges worked fine for me as well, just be sure to trim a little covering off around the CA hinge slots for better CA penetration and adhesion.

Also, the stock tail gear works great...

Are you using 15% nitro in your OS, or 30% heli fuel? I am surprised the performance is that good with a .70...
