Yes, Top Flite used out thrust to make the aircraft easier to handle in the event of an engine failure. I would not use sealant on any of the air components- it will be carried into the retract...

I've often asked myself that question. Their HD mechanical retracts are ok, but I wouldn't give a dime for the rest of the product line. When I chose a giant scale WWII fighter to build,

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

GJB:

I really like the looks. Excellent job on the rocker box cut outs.

What props were you looking at? The MAS 12x6 3 blade would give you the best results, I think. The 14x5 APC...

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

Couple of guys interested in mine, but not sold yet.

Early in it's life, I pancaked mine into a freshly plowed field. Took longer to take it apart and clean out all the dirt than it did to...

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

GJB:

What happened to your post?

I was going to ask how the Saito radials fit in the cowls. With twin 200s, you'll have around 30 pounds of static thrust. It will be the peppiest B-25...

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

On my P-51 I have the gyro gain y'd into the retract circuit. With the gear down, it's in headlock mode. With the gear up, it's a rate gyro. (Didn't have enough channels for a separate switch.)

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

Never had the experience, as the twin 55s have just been spot on reliable. However, had I decided to keep the bird, I was going to get one of the Futaba GYA 430 gyros for it. I have one on my TF...

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

I'm selling mine, as I don't fly it very much and need the space.

She's in good shape, powered by a pair of 55AX's. Fixed gear. Only thing wrong is the nose MG is busted off. I have an add...

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

I think the 5mm pin is kind of standard on retracts this size. Doesn't Robart use the same setup?

At $400 bucks cheaper, I'd try them.

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

The Mitchell is within the weight limit of HK item 107000061. For $144, I have to seriously consider them. The main wheels are a bit small, 2-3/4", but they would work. I'm going to check the...

I used Sullivans tanks, for reliability, and the 11oz was the biggest that would go in there.

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

One of the nice things about this bird is that most anything will fit in the cowls, allowing you to turn nice, large scale size props. The only downside I can see is that there isn't a lot of space...

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

I guess I don't understand why modelers think four strokes sound more realistic.

The Wright R-2600 Twin Cyclone used in the B-25 turned at 2600 RPM, which works out to 9100 exhaust pulses per...

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

The OS 55AX's on mine turn a pair of 12x6x3 MAS props at close to 11,000 RPM on 15% Cool Power. That's good for over 60mph and a total of almost 20 pounds static thrust. Two of them go for $340....
