I think I see what you mean about the screw with a sleeve in the slot for steering. I was trying to make it too complicated.

It's a little hard to see, but the left, top (as you are looking at it) phillips head screw boss is cracked away from the rest of the palstic casting and the left bumper spring is not attached to...
