RE: WACO YMF

Mitch,

I had Bill add me to the list for two. I'd be happy to send the money in advance, if that's required.

RE: WACO YMF

We're all still here! Four inches of winter descended on us yesterday, so it must be building season.

RE: WACO YMF

Jim,

I understand, engine investment is a big decision. The 85 twin has been out of production and they are difficult to find. To be honest, I would really prefer to keep it, if I can find a...

RE: WACO YMF

Jim,

If you really want to get started on the assembly of a parts list, I have a really sweet running 3W-85iB2 that currently doesn't have a home. Everything's negotiable. There's no rush, I...

RE: WACO YMF

Jim,

An RSC150 radial is equivalent to a DA85, ZDZ80, etc. About 8.5 bhp. The 150R weighs 9.8lbs compared with a DA85 at 4.3lbs. Generally, 85cc rated airplanes weigh 25lbs or less for...

RE: WACO YMF

Anthony,

The Jenny sounds like a very interesting and ambitious project. Talk about flying wires! I'm sure you'll have plenty of documentation. But, if you get stuck, the Hill AFB Museum is...

RE: WACO YMF

Excellent idea. AMR has a very complete set of photos of the build process, which should give you a lot of insight into the construction. They also refer a link to Anthony's build thread and my...

RE: WACO YMF

To each his own, but I would certainly disagree. I have banged my 33% WACO unmercifully and it has survived better then any conventional construction plane I've had. Properly done, modern CAD kits...

RE: WACO YMF

We have a winner!! The part I left out was "Let's go to press!" and the Morse Code.

My criteria for generation identification is "Do you remember the Mills Brothers?" Younger people would give...

RE: WACO YMF

I have built an AMR 33% WACO and a 38% Wedell-Williams racer in the last two years and I have been very pleased. Not only with the kit, but also the product support from AMR. My only experience...

RE: WACO YMF

Panel Lines: I'm looking for the definitive method for making really scale...

RE: WACO YMF

"Caveat emptor" Unfortunately, there are a few *******s out there who spoil the sport. I bought a kit once and the clown had assembled and bonded the main spars and then cut them in half with a...

RE: WACO YMF

Bill,

Reading through your column in RCR this month I was surprised to hear you describe your stitching procedure. I can't believe that you apply each thread individually. Talk about tedious. ...

RE: WACO YMF

Bill,

You provided a tutorial on calculating MAC recently. I have gone back to April and can't seem to find it. Is dementia setting in?

RE: WACO YMF

Bill,

Measure twice, cut once!! Something about your numbers didn't make sense. So, I went back to square one and did the math myself. Sure enough, I screwed up as usual. The real dimension...

RE: WACO YMF

Bill,

Thanks for the effort. Its greatly appreciated. Now, for us simple minded modelers who are too lazy to find MAC points in free space, what is the location relative to the total distance...

RE: WACO YMF

Dan,

Sorry about Roger's rekitting, but thats a classic mistake. Suddemly pulling the nose up to 45 deg just as you reach flying speed is a sure way to die. Both wings instantly stall and the...

RE: WACO YMF

Bill,

Its interesting to see the variety of approaches to this issue. Mitch is obviously doing very well with three point landing, however my preference is a level landing on the mains and pull...

RE: WACO YMF

I am still tuning the plane, but it doesn't appear to drop either wing at slow speeds. I'll measure my CG and we can compare notes.
Thanks,

RE: WACO YMF

Bill,

Since moving the CG forward, the plane has a nice even sink rate with the plane level and sets down on the mains with the tail level. Also, it helped reduce the down elevator trim. There...

RE: WACO YMF

Bill,

Thanks very much. That's very helpful data. Can anyone translate that to 33%? Without actual dimensions I would be guessing.
I spent the morning (first of six flying days in the week)...
