RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Pull-pull is more positive and has the same strength both ways, some solid linkages flex against pressure. Carbon fiber is fine, but pull-pull adds almost no weight to the rear and keeps the servo...

The folks with the 120's have been really happy, so I'd say you're in poretty good shape with that, Beachbrada.

Jerry, No problem, having an extra cowl is a good deal for me too.

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

I just talked to Jim Dines about his leftover cowl, I don't really need it and he's giving a good deal on it. I was just yard-sale-ing. I can back off from this one if you want it.

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

I'd love to see a diagram of how they all fit together to do that job. Can't seem to wrap my head around it just looking at the parts and descriptions.

Hmmmmm.....I'm gonna need to take another look at that. I think I was looking at the lowest photo on the page instead.

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

kiosk, we all get into good habits, but we all also forget something occasionally. I have a habit I developed over the past 30 years, and this is it:
I stand in front of the tailfeathers to run up...

Jerry,

Thanks again.

That appears to clamp OVER the outside of the elevators, is that the one?

Jerry,

Sorry to hear that your model crunched, I hope you can get it back together easily.

Thanks for the tip about the elevator setup from World Models, I will check that out.

If...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Jerry,

I'm looking at using linkage like that on some of my 50CC models, seems a bit excessive for a .60-.90 size. You'll laugh when you see my imaginative setup for my elevators on mine! I...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

I opened up the covering over the large hole just behind the wing tube on mine, it makes it really easy to manage my servo leads. I ended up putting both batteries just behind that, one on each...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Hi enephel,

Errr....actually I meant that the low wing gets the "control stick", which is the right side stick, and of course that stick is the same as a stick in a full-scale. The aileron will...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

I took mine out again today, and what a great flight! I had reset the CG by moving the on-board ignition battery pack back about 6 inches and once in flight I ended up retrimming it to....dead...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

My spinner was aluminum and NOT touching the prop blades, I think it was a Global spinner. Very nice spinner. DynaThrust props become brittle after a few years, I have been told, and both of the...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Jim Dines, I saw mine start to soften today in the sun at the JH Rice Memorial fly-in here in Kingsbury, Texas, and I ran around in a panic trying to find a cloth of some kind to throw over it. Of...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Hmmm.....I love the black canopy, but they say to be careful with that here in Texas, it gets hot and can deform.

kiosk, I bring a roll of paper towels to the field with me and a big bottle of...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Boy, don't I know about losing one to a switch. Nothing hurts like making sure of two dozen things and then losing one to the same switch that ALL your planes have flown with. The really GOOD...

REALLY nice job, Stevo. Eye-catching. Now, is the first photo the plane without the mods? I'd say yes....you took the paint job, then made it "More So!"...... with a little flair.

Uh, now,...

Thanks, Stevo.

I have trouble just putting them together the way they come through. I spend quite a bit of time staring at each one of them. There's a new plane to be found in each of...

Thanks for the good words, guys. I'll be happy to publish close-up photos of the elevator riggings once I wring them out and verify that they are a sound setup. I really just ran a Sig uni-elevator...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Well, I finally finished up my Seagull Edge 540 in time for the Jim Rice Sr. Memorial fly-in, which is a big deal here around San Antonio. We usually get well over a hundred flyers. I was crunched...
