RE: Hangar 9 Twist 3D

Another one joined the ranks at our field today. The weekend weather is supposed to be bad so he may be flying next week. Four twists in the air at the same time.

RE: Hangar 9 Twist 3D

The Twists were out today in Ohio. We finally got the skies off and had 3 Twists in the air at the same time. Most of the guys were a little rusty but man did they look good in the air.

RE: Hangar 9 Twist 3D

One twist with ski's at the field today. 4 Inches of snow and the Twist really looked good. I was flying my Avistar. Forgot I was not flying the Twist and tried to do an inverted half loop...

2" fire hose works best. Just spray it and forget it.

I tried weight on the cheeks also but a couple snaps later""""""""""no more weight""""""" Moving the 46 forward is a good move.

RE: Hangar 9 Twist 3D

Wet and spongy on the runway today. I flew the Twist first flight of the New Year and planted the landing gear in the runway. Sheared the nylon screws and pancaked it in with no damage. Got by...

RE: Hangar 9 Twist 3D

You could buy an extra motor mount when assembling the ARF. Drill for the mounting pattern on the fire wall and the 50 fx. Then just mount and swap when you get the new engine.

You could be the first one to install a G-62 on the front end but a Chevy 454 would only take a little more work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: Hangar 9 Twist 3D

I agree that a 46 FX is good for fun flying but lacks the power for great 3d. I have been flying with a46 for about 4 months while lusting after a bigger 4 stroke.

Went to the field today and everyone there had a Twist. We were all going to fly at the same time but were pretty sure it would have resulted in a pile of bulsa. Nice to see everyone enjoying a...

RE: Hangar 9 Twist 3D

I fly my Twist with an OS 46 FX with the 12.75 x ... prop. You will need to keep the motor to the front of the engine mount (ahead of were the plans call for) to prevent using weight. Keep the cg...

RE: Hangar 9 Twist 3D

I'm still trying to get the hang of 3D. I have a ball seeing how slow I can fly this plane then kick it in the but and roll across the entire field. Maybe I'll grow up someday.

RE: Hangar 9 Twist 3D

First flight on mine was yesterday. OS 46 FX gave all the vertical I wanted. I was a little twitchy with the rates set high but I like it. Fun little plane.
