RE: Matt Chapman cap 580 .40 size

13x8 MA 3-blade. Side-by-side comparison with a 14x6 2-blade showed that the 3-blade had more pull when going from slow to fast. It also makes the airplane land faster, too. Probably due to the...

RE: Matt Chapman cap 580 .40 size

Can't speak for them- I only know what worked for me. I thought for sure that I would have a nose heavy airplane, but I don't, and I didn't have to do anything unusual to balance it. Empty, as in...

RE: Matt Chapman cap 580 .40 size

To get it to balance I had to measure from the leading edge... ha ha! Seriously, I found the recommended CG and it balanced perfectly with a 14oz tank in the front and the battery at the back of...

RE: Matt Chapman cap 580 .40 size

I have a Magnum .91 four stroke in my Cap, and it flies it very well. My flying field is also at 5,550' asl so the extra engine brings the power back to where it should be. I shudder to think of...

RE: Matt Chapman cap 580 .40 size

I fly mine at Cherry Creek State Park (Denver R/C Eagle's flying field) with a .91 four stroke. Great combination. Good power, good sized prop to help slow it down for landings, also.

[quote]ORIGINAL: Abras

I did 3 rates setup, two like the manual says and one with the maximum deflection I could get. The low rate is ridiculos, GP should not recommend that, the high rate...

RE: Matt Chapman cap 580 .40 size

I maidened mine today. Never flown a Cap/Extra/Edge/Yak/Laser etc before today. It tracked straight down the runway, and lifted of with just a touch of elevator. It didn't need a single click of...

RE: Matt Chapman cap 580 .40 size

Hey, thanks for the canopy tips. I guess I'll use some RC56 and a couple screws. I just got done taxiing it around my cul-de-sac, and it looked too good to be just taxiing around! I just have to...

RE: Matt Chapman cap 580 .40 size

Let me clear this up quick! :) Due to the fact that I am using a Sullivan 12oz round tank, and the fact that the centerline of the tank is right at the cap, and the cap fits so very tightly into...

RE: Matt Chapman cap 580 .40 size

After I got my .91 four stroke all mounted up, throttle linkage hooked up, exhaust extension threaded on, plumbing lines connected, and the cowl cut to fit the head IN AN INVERTED POSITION, I...

RE: Matt Chapman cap 580 .40 size

Did this thread go extinct? :) Hey, did any of you guys that mounted your engines inverted cut out the other side of the cowl to help with cooling? I cut mine out and touched up the edges with...

Nice video. Your plane seems to fly very well. That .82 sounds great! Thanks for posting that. I can't wait to get mine in the air!

RE: Matt Chapman cap 580 .40 size

I started putting the pieces together this morning, and I have to say that this ARF is really put together very well. Top-notch construction, pun intended! :) It's going to be very easy to put a...

RE: Matt Chapman cap 580 .40 size

What, specifically, does taking a REALLY long time to glue the wing halves together, and slotting some hinges, have to do with making a non-3D capable airplane better? Just how does assembling...

RE: Matt Chapman cap 580 .40 size

Going to look at one tomorrow at the one of the LHS. Can't wait to see it. If I get it I will be putting a .91 four stroke on it. For any of you guys that have been flying them, how 'bout some...
