RE: How glossy is your WWI finish?

I used the Randolph non-tautening nitrate with nitrate thinnner and then when that ran out with butyrate thinner. Both thinners worked fine. I would imagine the Aerogloss (in those little glass...

RE: How glossy is your WWI finish?

That's why we have the other expression: "There's no accounting for taste." ;)

VG, some of the old photos positively scream "slick" to my eye and the mirror-like reflections are there for all...

RE: How glossy is your WWI finish?

There is a huge amount of variability seen in the crosses in the datafile photos. But one thing to notice is the thin struts. This shows that this particular CI was from an early production batch...

RE: How glossy is your WWI finish?

Here are a couple more "glossy" CI photos. I assume these were machines with a CDL wing, instead of the ones painted "baby blue" or "grey."

RE: How glossy is your WWI finish?

That may just be grime and discoloration of the old photograph.

It looks glossy to me to and that's why I started this thread. A lot of WWI guys seem to go for flat finishes. But as Bob...

How glossy is your WWI finish?

Glossy, semi-gloss, or flat? What's your preference for a WWI-era finish. I think most of us, WWI modelers stay away from high-gloss, but all you have to do is look through any of the datafiles and...
