RE: Hangar 9 F-22 Raptor PTS

Flew my F-22 on the Evo 60 today. It's OK but no barn burner. No surprise.

Anyway the front hatch latch failed. The horizontal pin is slipping in the mechanism. Has anyone come up with a...

RE: Hangar 9 F-22 Raptor PTS

Finally got around to installing my 60NX in my Raptor today. The 60NX with a old Towers Style Muffler is a wash weight wise vs the Factory installed PTS motor and Ultrathrust muffler.

Ill run...

RE: Hangar 9 F-22 Raptor PTS

I have to agree. After buying my F-22 on a "whim" I have collected 2 other airframes and placed them in storage.

However I did not buy my F-22 under the impression it was a trainer, and it...

RE: Hangar 9 F-22 Raptor PTS

It's designed with the small case 60NX motor in mind.

I broke in a NIB 60 NX and have been impressed how well it runs. It's going in the Craptor when I get a free minute.

That said I also...

RE: Hangar 9 F-22 Raptor PTS

3 More flights on the F-22 today.

Like stated above flaps solved my loooooooong takeoff runs. Model has no trouble now. Aside from flaps I was also running on 15% vs 10% Nitro. Engine seemed...

RE: Hangar 9 F-22 Raptor PTS

Our models could be very different as well. By that I mean C of G..... AUW... flap settings... idle RPM.... prop size. Are you flying with flaps?

I have landed 2 different ways with this...

RE: Hangar 9 F-22 Raptor PTS

Posted earlier by me. The 2 degrees down is fine IMO vs say what I started with.

RE: Hangar 9 F-22 Raptor PTS

Yes, the motor is shimmed to 2 degrees down.

It doesn't stick to the ground. Rather it takes a bit to get up on the prop once in the air. After all it's only a 10" propeller trying to lug this...

RE: Hangar 9 F-22 Raptor PTS

Actually that was the top speed in the back of my pickup on the way to the field!

Beefed the nose wheel and assorted front end up some. Stuffed my 5 cell RX Pack into the tail and checked...

RE: Hangar 9 F-22 Raptor PTS

3 more flights on the F-22 today with the stock power set. Stock with the exception to the APC 10x7 and Ultrathrust muffler that is.

Takeoffs are dicey. I could see new pilots splatting this...

RE: Hangar 9 F-22 Raptor PTS

Just got a real good deal on a Evo 60NX for the F-22. Me thinks going from a 10x7 on the stock motor, to a 11x6 on the 60NX might be what the DR ordered for my style of flying. No doubt 1" more...

RE: Hangar 9 F-22 Raptor PTS

That's a way too simple answer! No doubt what your saying holds true and for all we know they source parts from model to model when in a pinch!

The little Evo was able to spin a APC 10x7 to...

RE: Hangar 9 F-22 Raptor PTS

Hmmm thats interesting. Reason being on my F-22 with the gear "retracted" to it's lowest position I'm still at +2 degrees positive incidence. I wonder how the other fellows ended up negative?

RE: Hangar 9 F-22 Raptor PTS

Hi Larry. Now that I think of it at times the F-22 does resemble that wobbling about a duck makes as it's looking to make a water landing!

I do fly off grass, but this time of year there is so...

RE: Hangar 9 F-22 Raptor PTS

Flew mine for the 1st time today.

Even with a decent pipe it took a LOT of runway to get airborne on a 10x6 prop. Honestly I had to horse it up a little, drop the nose to gain speed then...

RE: Hangar 9 F-22 Raptor PTS

Is your battery pack all the way back in the tail? Instead of lead you could always use a bigger pack.... no?

Where are you balancing the model? 6"s?

RE: Hangar 9 F-22 Raptor PTS

It's the stock motor, not a 60. If I do aquire a 60NX I will try the 10x7.

RE: Hangar 9 F-22 Raptor PTS

From reading it sounds like fellows are getting decent RPM out of the Evo 60NX. Not so sure about it's weight but I figured it compares to the OS 55. Now I have a 55 OS but thats going in a F-20.

RE: Hangar 9 F-22 Raptor PTS

I thought the RTF version came with fixed flaps?

To add the optional flap servos, a reversing Y harness will be needed, or purchase 1 standard ST47 servo and 1 reversed ST47 servo. The required...

RE: Hangar 9 F-22 Raptor PTS

That's interesting. I just thumbed through my old DX-7 manual, and can find no mention of that. So I went directly to Spektrum site. Brought up what I assume is the newest DX7 manual and started...
