RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

With CA type hinges it's no big deal to cut the hinge off flush and make new slots with an Xacto knife and re-glue. I would think it would be a PITA to seal a gap that big.

With a gap that big...

Here's where I got mine. Further discount when you register and free shipping. Can't beat that. $54.77 shipped.

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

I got one of these a few weeks ago. I bought one listed as parts for $28 and $17 shipping. It had everything but the fuse. Then I bought the fuse from Advantage Hobby for $54.77 shipped free. Looking...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

That is much heavier than Saito 1.25, YS 1.10 or a OS 1.20AX. These engines have more than enough power. Wouldn't want to add any more weight. I would put the 1.50 in a bigger model. 70" Peak Extra...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

If the engine footprints are the same all you will have to do is change the fuel tubing later. The new one will drop right in.

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Saito engines are nice. I have a .82 I bought new for $225. The only extra parts in their gasoline versions are needle bearings on each end of the con rod and an ignition. I can't justify the price...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

My 1.20 two stroke turned that prop at about 10,600 on 15% and yeah it sounded like it was going to break in flight.

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

I'll bet a YS 1.10 would like a APC 17X4W for 3D. I had one on my 1.20 AX and it was not enough load for it. I heard good things about this prop on the Saito 1.25.

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

That engine will work in this model. Looks to be about the same as a OS .91 only a few ounces heavier. The reason it is cheaper than other engines is that it is not a ringed engine. I highly...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

I am surprised a .90 makes it so nose heavy. I have a OS 1.20 AX. It weighs about 26 ounces with the muffler I guess. I have beefier control rods and flying wires but that should not be a big...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Hi Jim,
It's easier for me to place just one order for all the parts I need. It's good to have an extra cowl when you sell a model. It usually sweetens the deal.

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Bag-o-balsa days indeed.
A fellow flyer was telling me about when he was a less experienced pilot. He said he would put the trash bag inside the airplane. When he would find the crash there would...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

The pieces on the right of the picture clamp to the fuselage sides after you drill a hole all the way through both sides. The pieces that look like single sided servo arms go on the ends of the metal...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Well I got to flight 55 today and broke the fuse pretty bad. Could be fixed but just going to order another fuse, cowl and tube. I just bought one of these on eBay for $140 and free shipping.

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Hi Jim,

I just swapped all the gear from my 70" Extra 260 from Peak Model. I just had to make longer push rods for it. I know it is overkill but they were already on the servos. That is where I...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Hi Jim,
With the 1.20AX I used Hangar 9 ball links with 4-40 push rods. I am using a regulator with a 2000mah 2 cell Thunder Power rx pack. This battery is right behind the firewall in the...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Sorry. I meant control stick. I typed the wrong words. (I was out late celebrating the loss of my job)

I just wanted to add that the airplane hovering with the belly toward you requires pushing...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Glad you decided to keep her. I like at the bottom of your post about the low wing getting the rudder. If you are in a hover and the airplane torque rolls with the belly towards you the low wing gets...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Yep. It's true red. I was looking for a 4 oz. tank to give to a buddy and while I was looking for it I discovered I had some. Anyway I got another prop and it's ready to go again. Haven't moved the...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

I landed my edge upside down. I was doing an inverted slow pass and I gave a bunch of down elevator to go into a hover. I guess you could call it an inverted wall. I gave throttle a little late and...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

That gear is from a 1.20 Extra 260 sold by Peakmodel. It is $45 to buy it. I had the back section of the fuselage come off in flight. The gear was all I kept. I gave the wings and tail to someone who...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

I ran mine with a 18X5 Zinger but never flew with it. I got 8500 or 8600 rpm with it but it was like a DA-50 with a 23" prop. The spool up was slow.
I also had a 17X4W prop because my LHS was out...
