RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

I fly a 1.60 at sea level here in San Diego. It goes straight up until I'm tired of holding the throttle forward. I think it flies very well with at 12.25 pounds. Some folks are worried about the...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

It's probably a pain to remove your bed cover but if it is not my pitts makes a 25mi trip to our field every weekend in the back of my pickup. I got a couple of shower rods from Walmart and some pipe...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

I used a O.S. 160 with the servos in the stock location. To get mine where I like it I had to put a 2400 mah battery under the vertical stab. Go with something heavier than that and you may need even...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

I have been fine with the stock cowl bolts as well. At this point I must have 30-40 flights on it. I run a OS 1.60, perhaps your motor vibrates more...?

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

I finally got a scale that handled more that five pounds. So I've been weighing everything in the house. One of those things was my Pitts. She came in at 12lb 3.5oz dry. I have an O.S. 1.60 in it and...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Do you have a picture of your elevator servo mounts without the servos in them. If I get motivated one of these days I would like to switch to rear mounted servos...

Thanks,

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

I had that impression of the knife edge coupling as well. After a few flights I found I was giving it too much rudder causing it to buck out. Try more throttle and less rudder, I think you'll find...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

That reminds me of a saying:

I want to go peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather; not screaming in terror like his passengers.

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Jaimi,

Do you have pictures of your elevator servo installation. I had some ideas, but I'm having too much fun flying the way it is. I haven't gotten motivated to start chopping into the tail to...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

I have been flying my since the beginning of January. Here is a thread that I posted a while ago about it:

I would...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

I think it flies great on the 1.6. I'm still breaking mine in and it does not seem to want for power.

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

I am using the stock elevator setup and I do not get any jerks like you describe. I do get a bit of roll coupling with pitch, but some of that is due to the fact that I still haven't taken the time...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

I emailed Goldberg to get their take on the incidences for the Pitts, they responded:

+1 on the stab
0 on both wings.

When I measured mine a few weeks ago I used the stab as the reference...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Just flew mine again with the O.S. 1.60 today. I really like the combo. Vertical seems unlimited and the 1.60 runs and starts great (I'm still taking it easy on the new motor). This is the first one...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Well I finally got to really fly the Pitts this Sunday. After some early morning set backs (forgot to locktite the nuts on the aileron clevises, oops) I got two flights in where I could run the...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

I put the tank in the little recess right behind the firewall. The stock tank is structurally sound I'm sure, but he shape is just silly. The rectangular Sullivan is much easier to work with. I just...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Here are some pictures of the hatch for those interested.

As far as fuel tanks go the one included is 500cc according to tower. I pitched it and replaced it with a 16 oz Sullivan. An 8 minute...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

It is the O.S. 1.60 two-stroke. With my setup and a slimline smoke muffler, I had to move my 2700mah battery under the turtle deck right in front of the rudder (made a hatch) to get my C.G. 1/2...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

I got rained out last weekend, so I couldn't finish breaking in my 1.60. I should get some flights on it this Sunday with the engine running more at it's normal settings. I also picked up a 18x8 prop...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Here is a picture of the bipe more or less level. With the 18x8 prop on the 1.60 I have 3 inches of clearance. You would really have to botch the landing to dork the prop. A 20" prop might be a...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

I had the same issue with the belly pan on mine. Basically, I got to choose which three corners I wanted to line up. The other one was out about 1/8 of an inch. I sent Goldberg an email about this...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Watch the weight of your engines. A gas engine that weighs almost 3 pounds may cause a problem with balance. My O.S. 1.60 is 32oz. not counting the slimline smoke muffler. Mounting a 2700 mah pack...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

extratorker, have you flown since you made the modifications to the incidence? Since mine is negative I should be able to just put a shim on the wing bolt plates to bring it to zero if that makes a...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

The manual says 3" is the scale size. It looks like the goldberg blue spinner matches pretty close. Otherwise tru-turn sells one cut for low pitch props.
