I personally prefer e flite stuff and the dx7s is a fantastic transmitter. For the trainer a hobbyzone super cub is quite good as it is easy to fly and easy to repair with hot glue. Hope this helps....

I think that those ribs are quite good as it looks like they are cut with wing washout in mind at least in refrence to the cuts of the bottom surface. Do the plans mention wing washout?

The polecat is a nice flyer but very sensitive. The spitfire is supposed to fix that characteristic ultra micro problem but i don't have one so i can't say.
