RE: TF Spitfire Engine Recommendation.

If you are going with the TF in-cowl muffler - I would use the Super-Tigre G75. Anything bigger with that muffler would cause an overheating problem. If you're not going with the in-cowl muffler -...

RE: P51D Excalibur, Down

Cougar,
Per TopFlite plans, the 60 size mustang uses a single servo that services both alerons. It's mounted in the center of the wing. The control rods for the left & right aileron connect to...

RE: Fourstar 60

I'm in the same boat as you are. I just lost my 4star60 beyond repair and I'm going to replace it with a Venture 60 from Bruce Tharpe Engineering. He was the designer of the 4star40 and 4star120...

RE: upset buyer question

I'm a little fuzzy on exactly what happened. Is the buyer saying that plane was damaged in shipping? If so, did you purchase shipping insurance. I've no experience with greyhound, so I don't know...

RE: I need advice for bending 1/4" wire

I'll second the link that Terry posted. I followed it and it worked great for me. I see other guys at the field that used heat to bend landing gear wire and they are always straightening their gear...

RE: fuel line check valves

Rob,
I used the YS Check Valve .61 ST-H from towerhobbies on an inverted SuperTigre G75. I tried the uniflow setup with limited success. Since the muffler pressure line and the fuel pickup are...

RE: How do we keep scalloped monokote from coming up??

I've also used clear nail polish instead of CA to seal the edges of sharp corners and the ends of narrow stripes. Take the same precautions that MinnFlyer suggested. Just a small dot where you think...

RE: Cripes A' Mighty!

Beautiful Mustang! Great job. Did you cover it or did you glass it? The finish looks great!

RE: servos for Sig 4-star-60

I also have the four-star-60 with standard 3004 servos all around. I'm also using a 6-volt battery pack. It seems to do just fine.

By the way, it'd be great if you could post some pictures of...

RE: Fiberglass Parts for TF P-51??

I used the fiberglass cowl for Stans Fiber Tech for the 1/7 scale TF P-51D and love it. I used the included ABS cowl and it didn't even make it past engine break-in and practice taxiing before it...

RE: I went about it alone

Good job with the new brace. But I have a couple of comments I hope you'll take as constructive criticism...

First, securing the brace with nuts and bolts will probably work for awhile. But with...

RE: TF P-51 spinner ques

I believe you need the Dave Brown X-Long Adapter Nut 5/16-24 .

The OS .61 FX uses a 5/16" x 24 shaft.

RE: In-Cowl muffler advice

I used the Top-Flite in-cowl muffler on mine. See it here.

I used it with a Super Tigre G75. You have to mount the engine inverted - which is a little tricky to get set up and tuned correctly....

RE: cleaning ca tips

The covered acetone jar is the way to go. I have a few spare tips and tops from old CA bottles that I keep. At the end of the day I take any clogged CA tips and drop them in the acetone jar and...

RE: need an on board rocket engine ingitor.

I believe the easiest way would be with a nano size servo. Anything electronic that plugs into a channel would have to have logic in it to decipher the servo signals - and I don't recall seeing...

RE: Sig Four Star 40 and OS 46AX

Coletc,
They are self-stick vinyl letters. I got them in a magazine advertisement for the mini cooper car when it first came out - I figured they might come in handy someday.

I've also seen...

RE: Sig Four Star 40 and OS 46AX

Connery,
I liked your trim scheme so much I copied it for my Four-Star 60. I hope you don't mind. I'm thinking that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. :D

RE: Can I spray clear ultracote over G.P. striping tape?

I used striping tape over monokote and was afraid it would start peeling back over time. So i use clear nail polish at the ends and corners of the stripes. You don't even notice the clear nail...

RE: Tapping Threads for Wingbolt?

As mentioned before, threaded inserts might be the way to go if the wooden threads are messed up. Great Planes make some - heres an example - or you can probably find them at a hardware store.

RE: Expert On-board Glow Driver blinking light.

I have to ask.. How do you know the plug isn't getting any glow? If you are removing it from the engine to look at it - is it still grounded to the engine?

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

If the razor plane is chipping the balsa, it's taking too big of a bite. Loosen the screw and back the blade back into the plane - just a small adjustment, then retighten the screw. Now try it...

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build

When I was building this kit last year, I used a razor plane. You just plane the balsa blocks to their rough shape and then finish sanding them to their final shape. It made quick work of removing...

RE: gsp spitfire retracts

I'm not familiar with the GSP Spit, but I'll take a stab at this anyway.... Does it have a steerable tail wheel - or just the caster-type tail wheel? And are you landing on a grass or asphalt...

RE: Best hinges to use and pics ??

Take a look at the Phoenix Hinges from SonicTronics, Inc.. I've used them on some access hatches, and they worked out great. They're also fairly inexpensive. Take a look at them here.

RE: Scale like retract

If you use pneumatic retracts - you could use an air line restrictor on one of the retract's airlines. But it sounds like you are using mechanical retracts....
