RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Mike,

go back to page 478 in the forum and you will find a discussion about veliocity stacks and a discription of the one Hobbsy made for his 125 I believe it was. I'm gonna try making one for...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Thanks guy, for doing the math for me. Can't ask for more than that. Sorta indicates there is probably not much chance of our Saitos putting prop tips "ballistic" but man they sure make 'em sound...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

rlmcnii,

since we really don't know what rpm the engine in question is turning, i guess the next question is, what rpm would our Saito's have turn to put the tips of a given prop supersonic? i...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Gary,

I would think that unless you are under-proped for that engine /airplane conbination you're probably not hurting anything. If you set things up using a tach. and know that your static RPM...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Thanks for the information w8ye. I sorta' figured the 18X8 might be a little much. What do you think about a three blade. Would a 16X8 three blade be about right then? Don't know if I'll need the...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Hi Paul, From what you're telling me the MAS 16X8 that I am running right now is not a big enough prop for the 180. Mine is already turning the 16X8 at 9700 on the bench leaned out to peck and I...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Yeah Paul, I probably should have phrased that about my wife a little differently. But what the heck, maybe she meant no fun at home too. Glad to hear your 180 is running well now. I've only had...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

w8ye or Hobbsy, Sorry for being a pest - just one more question. What is the difference if any between belling (flaring) the end of the VS and cutting it on a slope? Is there any particular...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Thanks w8ye - I'll try heating it as you say. Is the K&B tubing brass or copper? I've used the heat and quench on copper spark plug gaskets but have never tried it on brass. After the descussion...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Thanks Hobbsy, From what you say I assume the angle of the "45 degree slope" is a factor as well as the length? I'll probably be trying this on a 115 when the time comes. Any suggestion as to how...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Hobbsy, Thanks for the picture of the LS needle on your 125 and your refresher on tuning procedure. The thing that really caught my eye is the "home made" velocity stack. After all my...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Paul - I'm sure not one to be second guessing anyone about four strokers since I've never had any experience with one until I bought my Saito 180. It's made a fan out of me and I'm about to add...
