RE: JDM FW190

RE: JDM FW190

Flight Update!

After spending a good bit of time doing a little repair, a little tweaking/modding, and quite a bit of Gremlin chasing, I finally got enough stick time in to brave taking up Black...

RE: JDM FW190

Great service from DJ Aerotech... the new SisT fiberglass cone arrived in one day, perfect condition. I drilled, sanded, did the prop cuts, primed and painted this weekend. It's a little bit thicker...

RE: JDM FW190

Turns out it looks like my spinner was the one for the SisT FW190A after all. I just talked to DJ Aerotech and ordered a replacement cone from him. Should fit right into my backplate... yay! :D...

RE: JDM FW190

Thanks for the info. It looks like Tiger Aces only offer the 1/4 scale spinner (mine is 1/5 scale) and I believe the one Phil has is the SisT spinner. I can get the same one from DJAerotech here in...

RE: JDM FW190

Now there's a thought! :D

That's probably my best and only option at this point. I hoped to avoid cutting, painting and balancing the aluminum spinner but I don't see that I'll have a choice. I...

RE: JDM FW190

I looked at the one HAM mentioned and it looks like the same one to me too. I don't remember getting it there, but it's been a couple years or so ago now.

I see their site still says that stock...

RE: JDM FW190

Thanks guys, I have to check the size when I get home from work tonight. It's actually fiberglass, not CF. I can go heavier (Aluminum) if necessary and take some nose lead back out, but I have a...

RE: JDM FW190

Correction... it's not carbon fiber, it's fiberglass (gel-coated black).

RE: JDM FW190

OK guys, I need your help. I need to replace the spinner on my FW190, I want the same one again, but for the life of me I can't remember where I got it. [:@]

It's carbon fiber with an aluminum...

RE: JDM FW190

Very cool, nice job. The WB Poly method is the bees knees... and I think the landing on my maiden proved that it is durable enough. ;)

What kit is it that you are "bashing" there? I take it that...

RE: JDM FW190

The specs say 14-18 pounds with a gas engine which I think is impossible (this would be with fixed gear, small wheels and probably no flaps). I think it would be more like 17-19 lbs with fixed gear,...

RE: JDM FW190

My 190 came in at 24 lbs but needed 3 more to balance (total 27lbs)... however had I known it would be that heavy, I think I could have done a better job of lightening the tail a bit and saved maybe...

RE: JDM FW190

FYI, I just posted on my site today a "regurgitation" of the above flight report and finally managed to edit the flight video and get it posted. Don't get too excited, it's some pretty poor footage....

RE: JDM FW190

Hehe thanks... I hope you're right. ;)

Actually, I'm sure you're right... I can't wait to make a couple tweaks and get back on it. Next season should be a fun one... boy it's going to be a long...

RE: JDM FW190

I'm sure you're right on that one Mike, I can't wait to try again with flaps. What you described about takeoff sounds exactly like what I came away believing... I'm sure it will be easier now that I...

RE: JDM FW190

Thanks Mike, I'm sure you are right... live and learn. ;)

There's no doubt it will be FLAPS DOWN for me the next time... no more stupid moves like this. At least there will "be" a next time this...

RE: JDM FW190

Well guys, I'm late in reporting in, but a couple weeks ago I finally got around to flying the maiden flight of "Black 3" and finally found some time to sit down and fill you in. After not ever...

RE: Customized Chip Hyde Vision 3D!

The scheme is not an EPS file. I mocked it up and Photoshop and then cut it by eye & hand (except for the logos).
