RE: Sail Setup

Thanks, those looks like some really helpful links, I will have to read it and see if I can absorb the information.
So the jib boom is simply there so the jib can be free to move a small amount,...

RE: Sail Setup

Thanks for the links. Arranging the controls is what I am interested in and have not been able to find out much info. Even though the jib is attached to the boom that pivots with the main sail, it...

RE: PAW 35 Diesel vibration

My PAW .19 develops a strange vibration when it reaches a certain RPM. The prop actually starts going back and forth (motion parallel to the crankshaft) so that the back of the prop washer starts...

RE: Thrust Data?

Right on, will see what I can come up with! I am scaling down and lightening some existing plans for a .25 sized profile type model, so will post some pictures and info on this forum when I get...

RE: Thrust Data?

Thanks for the advice guys. Lou - do you have a particular spreadsheet link you can recommend? I will try a few different props and measure RPM and make some more approximations, but sounds like in...

Thrust Data?

Hey everyone,

I am working on a design for a small aerobatic model to be powered by my PAW .19 R/C diesel. This may be kind of a long shot, but I don't suppose anyone here would know what kind...

RE: AE 1cc Diesel Engine - anybody run this?

I have a brand new one, but the RC version. First time I tried to run it, about 2 flicks of the prop (before any fuel even entered the line) the cylinder started to wobble. I tried to tighten it,...

RE: Diesels are dead - apparently!

Yes, that sounds plausible about getting the propellant dissolved in the ether. Will keep it out of the freezer next time perhaps.

RE: Diesels are dead - apparently!

What is the secret for using John Deer starter fluid for you ether source? I tried this myself a while back, and followed all the instructions about putting it in the freezer, holding inverted and...

RE: Engine troubles

As long as you treat a dieselized cox right, it works fine. I've had engines with a stock crank that I have run a lot fuel through with hours of trouble free running. Keep the compression as low as...

Engine troubles

Well, my can of diesel fuel was starting to get a little low. For the last few times I had been out, I had to up the compression slightly on my Cox diesel conversion to compensate for the lack of...

RE: glow head adapters

I have used the Galbreath head with great results. I agree with gabe, I have also tried the RJL head (see www.mecoa.com) that uses a standard glowplug and saw no performace decrease with a stock Cox...

RE: Anyone using one bladed props?

I have tried some Eliminator single blade props on 1/2a engines with good results. They certainly rev like crazy.

RE: Prop size

Thanks guys

I am building an airframe around the engine. It is similar to the F3S Speedcup airframes in appearance - the engine and pipe will be cowled so it will be very sleek.

Prop size

Hello all,

I have a OS MAX FX .46, and I just got the Macs tuned pipe outfit for it. I understand this is not really a purpose built speed engine, but should still be able to produce a descent...

Sounds like an interesting project, do you have any drawings of what the finished product will look like?

RE: Cox 049 glow head question

I bought one of the RJL standard plug conversion heads for one of my 049's just to try. I ran the engine first with the cox glow head, then a second time with the standard plug head and there was no...

RE: Davis Diesel Development Killer Crank

I was wondering about the balance on the full circle one. I figured it could be a pretty rough runner. I wonder why I got an old rusty one when I got it just recently.

RE: RJL Diesel Head

Graham,

You are correct, mine is the one with the full circle crank web. I bought it from DD a few months ago, so it may be the new one, or I guess it could have been old stock. It was kind of...

RE: RJL Diesel Head

I have a DD crank ready and waiting if there is a failure. So far it has been totally trouble free. The davis crank is a little too short or maybe the spline is not tight enough for the cox drive...

RJL Diesel Head

After messing around with a Davis head conversion on a Cox surestart for a few months, and not getting a satisfactory run, I decided to try the RJL head. With the Davis, I just could not get a...
