RE: RC Car/Truck enthusiast looking to get into flying.

As far as finding a trainer, have you thought about checking out craigslist or a similar second hand avenue? I got my xtra easy for a little over 100 bucks ready to fly. Engine, radio, servos,...

RE: RC Car/Truck enthusiast looking to get into flying.

I'd say go for the Alpha if you can't get in contact with a local club. If you have an instructor and a buddy box then go for the stick style planes. I have a hanger 9 trainer (the xtra easy, it is...

RE: RC Car/Truck enthusiast looking to get into flying.

I was in your shoes about 4 months ago, you will be happy you are getting into planes! For me they are way more fulfilling than cars/trucks/boats because of the amount of skill it takes to do some of...

RE: Plane won't fly.

The link he told you about is www.gettingairborne.com, you can't miss it, it is right in his signature as he said. (I think someone mentioned paying attention...)

Just take your time and read...

RE: Thunder Tiger GP.42

I thought maybe they just called it the gp-42, not the gp .42 but I see tower's site refers to it as a .42...

Thunder Tiger shows this as being .421 on their own site. Maybe Tower's info is...

RE: Hobbistar 60mkIII

Hi there! You knew you couldn't stay away forever!

I just sold my MKIII but I had the stock OS 65 LA on there and it had great power and great vertical, even pretty quick grass field take offs....

RE: Great Planes Escapade .40 ARF

I agree, I am going to pick up some checkerboard pattern for them bottom of the wings and possibly some bright leading edge colors. My escapade just shipped and will be here on Friday! Got it from...

RE: Escapade .40 a good second plane?

Thank you for all the responses, from the sounds of it the Escapade is a pretty decent little plane. I think I will put more time on my trainer until I am really comfortable and then move up to the...

RE: Escapade .40 a good second plane?

Funny, that seems to be the argument on the escapade thread too. Some people lambast the plane and others say it is incredible. I really don't care about flying really fast, in fact the JBA .56 I was...

RE: Escapade .40 a good second plane?

Thanks for the feedback, I did read up on the escapade thread and noticed that you have to go over it with a fine toothed comb and a bit of CA to make sure you dont have those problems. I heard a lot...

Escapade .40 a good second plane?

Hello all,

I recently bought a hanger 9 xtra easy and learned to fly at our local club. Onc session on the club mentor's foam warplane and I was soloing my trainer the next day. I need more...

RE: battery charging

I like this charger you suggested scooter, however it states that it does not come with an AC adapter, which seems to be the norm (I have no idea why!), where would one go about finding one of those?

RE: Want to recover a wing, how do you get the ailerons off?

ahah, yeah I would imagine that would do the trick!

Thanks for the link, I am going to stop at my LHS and have them walk me through it. Thankfully my LHS is mostly planes, so his supply of...

RE: Want to recover a wing, how do you get the ailerons off?

Thanks for the step by step, I think replacing the hinges would be the right thing to do. Do you have a link to a set of "barrel" hinges that would work for this application so that I could get a...

RE: Want to recover a wing, how do you get the ailerons off?

Thanks for the advice guys, I am pretty new to the whole thing and I thought maybe I'd be out of luck with those ailerons...

I still have to do a little balsa repair but I should have it ready...

Want to recover a wing, how do you get the ailerons off?

I have a Hanger 9 Xtra Easy... not the newest thing in the world but it should get me in the air. The previous owner had hit a pole and damaged a wing, nothing that about 2 pieces of balsa won't fix...

RE: Just getting started... quick question!

Good points, I would never lay out the cash for a glow plane before checking out the club and seeing what it is all about. The field in my back yard is park flying size only, I wouldn't attempt a...

RE: Just getting started... quick question!

Sounds like buying a new car, once it is off the lot it is darn near useless :)

What do you guys think about something like the Hanger 9 Alpha 40 RTF? Are most RTF's just decent planes with...

Just getting started... quick question!

Hey guys and gals,

I have been building/operating RC's in one form or another since I could walk (I am 25 now) and I really would like to give planes a try! I have wanted one for many years but...

RE: ENFORCER OWNERS ~~ This is your thread

I usually just head out to the local quarry or some random pond. I haven't been into boating for quite some time. Bringing the raft with me today... hope I don't have to use it :)

RE: What's the truth about the MGT 8.0 engine ???

People look way too much at horsepower...

example my buddies old 86 vette only has about 220 hp and my rsx-s has about 205 and weighs less than his vette and has an 8000 rpm redline (he shifts...
