RE: *Aquila by Northeast Aerodynamics*

Am about half way through the Aquila build and decided to check where CG was heading. The manual says CG should be 70mm or about 2.75" behind center of the wing tube. That is about 8" behind LE at...

RE: OS GT33 33cc gasser

Matt,

Thanks for the reponse. With the OS 33, I would use a pipe and probably a semi soft mount. I think Merle can make one that does not require a nose ring. Part of the reason for my...

RE: OS GT33 33cc gasser

Matt,

I have an new Aquila that needs an engine. If you dont mind, I'd appreciate your opinion on putting an OS 33 in the Aquila. Thanks.

RE: Electric Vs Engine.

Matt,

I followed the old thread on the Syssa 180, where you were adapting that engine to pattern. Understand that Syssa is coming out with an improved version that addresses some of the...

RE: OS 120 AX Special

My 120 AX Special is behaving better, but this is certainly a different engine. Today, I went to the field with a 16x10 prop and no cowl. Engine started immediately, checked the needle setting,...

RE: OS 120 AX Special

By manners I did mean louder. The author didn't think the rpm gain was worth the increased noise. Chalk it up to difference of opinion. Might be worth a try. If I could find a gently used pipe...

RE: OS 120 AX Special

I read in the 120 or Venus thread that removing the baffle really ups the DBs. The engine kinda loses its maners w/o much gain. Then again, maybe I would be able to hear it when flying with...

RE: OS 120 AX Special

I am trying different props based on what guys were using on the Venus ll. In that thread, a few reported using a 17x6 as well as 16x8 and 15x10. Appreciate the comments.

RE: OS 120 AX Special

Don't know if engine gets too hot. Don't have a temp guage. But it is plenty warm. Cowl has been off to make it easier to adjust low speed needle. Think I will leave it off until it cools some.

RE: OS 120 AX Special

Still tweaking the needles, but lots of power. Pretty much what one would expect from a new engine. The stock muffler is OK, at least for now. It is the lightest option, weighing about 150 grams...

RE: OS 120 AX Special

Well, the F plug fixed it. Installed an F plug and flew today. Acted like a completely different engine. Not at all "touchy" and inconsistant. Made a believer out of me. I never imagined the...

RE: OS 120 AX Special

Joe,

I have reset at factory idle twice. It runs, but that is all. Trying to improve running is what gets me in trouble. I think that I have been misinterpreting the poor transition and...

RE: OS 120 AX Special

Jon,

Thought I could get through the flying season then change the bearing. Guess I'll do it now. Haven't cleaned the carb...yet. Fresh fuel for recent runs. Thanks.

RE: OS 120 AX Special

Arch,

Thanks for the response. I have a no. 8 in it. It doesn't seem to want to run rich unless the glo driver is attached. Makes me think a hotter plug might help. Is my logic correct? Ill...

OS 120 AX Special

I am interested in hearing from anyone who is using the new OS 120 AX Special or recognizes these symptoms I recently purchased one and after break in, installed it an Excelleron. My problem is...

RE: *Aquila by Northeast Aerodynamics*

Robert,

Thanks for the Gator tip. Am considering beefing-up the fuse and going with a power plant bigger than the 120. I'll chime in when I have something relevant.

RE: *Aquila by Northeast Aerodynamics*

MKT,

Just checked the web site. All sold out. They advertised a liquidation sale about 2 weeks ago. Didn't take long.

RE: *Aquila by Northeast Aerodynamics*

Majortom,

Appreciate your input. I did think about the ARC for the reasons you mentioned. As I mentioned to Robert, need to think about power options, as I don't want a dog. I'll keep you...

RE: *Aquila by Northeast Aerodynamics*

Robert,

Thanks for the info. If I can't keep it light, I'll be looking for more power. So, I'll need to think a little about how to power it. On what did you base your follow on fuses ?

RE: *Aquila by Northeast Aerodynamics*

All up at 10 lb or less would be great. Any nose heavy issues with the 140? About how many flights on the plane? Thanks for the response.

RE: *Aquila by Northeast Aerodynamics*

Well, no activity on this thread for 2.5 years, but thought I'd see if I can get a little info on past experiences with Aquila. I bought one during the recent liquidation. I plan to put an OS 120...

RE: OS-120AX cookbook

Flywilly,

Thanks for the link. Think I will look at pipes and mufflers and pick one.
