I had a Flair Stearman and was planning to put an Evo 999 (9 cylinder 99cc) in it. It could work, but the 777 is probably a better match for a 90Ē span biplane.

These engines take a good couple of hours break-in before they will idle w/o glow power. And low oil in the fuel (<10%). Perhaps it needs a bit more running in?
