RE: Effect of wind speed on EDF thrust

Another way to look at it...

Due to its rotation, the earth's surface (and the air surrounding it) are moving eastward at 1000 mph or so.If you take into account the speed of the earth in its...

RE: Which is the best Shockie for indoor 3D?

Of the original 3 Ikarus Shockflyers, I liked the Superstar best. But I think I like the Yak54 from Ikarus better. It's bigger, but not significantly heavier (maybe my building is getting better) and...

RE: Ceramic Capacitor

The capacitor suppresses arcing between the brushes and commutator. The arcing can be a cause of glitching. Chances are you'll see some reduced range and/or glitching under power without the...

RE: Parkzone Typhoon - I need help!

The Typhoon will 3D but nowhere near as well as a flat foamy. One thing you might want to try is some stall strips along the leading edges of the wing. You might tape some small triangle stock along...

RE: Anyone interested in the Ultrafly Radix?, Heres some pics of mine

I just finished building mine last nite. Too windy to day for a decent flight test, it'll have to wait til the wind dies down or I get some gym time.

Pretty nice build, I used the shrink tube...

RE: Hello I am WH

I remember ALL of it Bill. I started in control line in the late '60s and took up R/C in '73 or so. Had a fixed pitch Heli-Baby with a Webra blackhead 40 as my first heli in 79 or so, then back to...

RE: Is it a good idea to learn to fly planes before flying helis ?

I'll second that R/C cars can help. A buddy of mine raced 1/12 scale cars for years, and started flying helis this summer. By the end of the first month he could fly around, do nose-in, and loops and...

RE: Is it a good idea to learn to fly planes before flying helis ?

I'm working at the shop today from 12 to 4, I'll probably be out at 73rd this evening sometime, maybe 6 or 6:30 or so.

RE: Which Heli (Thunder Tiger/Sceudo)?

Sounds like a good plan. The TT600 carbon blades worked very well on my EVO, and you should be just fine with the 9001's until you've progressed to the point of doing aerobatics and 3D when you might...

RE: Which Heli (Thunder Tiger/Sceudo)?

Go for the package with the 9C. Evos and Raptors are both nice Helis. I happen to own an EVO, but I'd be happy with a Raptor as well. I would NOT be happy with a 7C though.

RE: Question for everyone...

I live in Queens and fly in both Queens and Brooklyn. I work at Fantasia Hobby in Flushing a few days a week and I get out flying almost every weekday in the morning for a few hours. Saturdays I...

WakkoOo,

Are you planning on flying at Marine Park? The guys there are just about the friendliest bunch I've ever met.

RE: Sceadu Evo 50 Owners

I have the mechanical mixing version of the EVO. I've flown both CCPM and mechanical mix helis, I think the advantages of CCPM outweigh the disadvantages for me. Not everyone will feel the same way,...

RE: Autorotation

Flare, level off, then land. In some cases you may need to land with some forward motion and slide, but you'll still want to level off before setting down. If the machine is nose high when the skids...

RE: Autorotation

Autorotations do not require negative pitch, but having negative pitch available definitely increases your options.

RE: Just picked up Sceadu Evo 50

Mike,

Here's one issue you may want to address, sorry I'm coming into this thread so late...

My EVO made a bit of a screeching sound at idle, sounded sort of like a bad bearing in the...

RE: Cali Vids

I couldn't tell if it was a Caliber or not, it looked like the canopy was off and I didn't get close enough to tell what it was.

I worry about 4.8 volt nimh packs because of voltage drop under...
