Thanks guys.

It's hard to get a good photo of it since it's gloss-coated for weather-proofing, but you get the idea.

I was telling my son we used to paint jackets back in the day, so he talked me into doing one. Luckily I found five 20 year old tubes of acrylic in a drawer (blue, red, yellow, black and white)....

RE: The Tanker's Lounge

Couldn't agree more Dan.

My family has had NY Giants tickets since the Polo Grounds in '56. I started paying for my own seat when I was 18 or so, it was $20 a game. When I gave up my ticket...

RE: The Tanker's Lounge

I think half the people I know would, including some State Troopers. A buddy pulled him over years ago doing 90 or so on the Pallisades, which isbarely driveable at 50. Before he even got to the door...

RE: The Tanker's Lounge

I've been a Hockey fan for 40 years. I grew up in the 70s with two brothers, one a Rangers fan, the other a Flyers fan, so naturally I became a Canadiens fan. I used to listen to games on the radio...

RE: The Tanker's Lounge

Elon Musk and NASA are giving us two huge boosts in national prestige and pride, but it goes unnoticed.

Remember the Apollo program lost out after 11 too. 13 spiked interest because it was a...

RE: The Tanker's Lounge

I for one are glad for the exception.

It's a treat to watch the assembly. Looks like they provide nice directions.

RE: The Tanker's Lounge

I almost pulled the trigger on one of Theo Jansen's Strandbeests from Shapeways a few times. I still might.

It comes...

RE: The Tanker's Lounge

That's good to know, the jig would be relatively easy unless you are talking ramping up for production.

RE: The Tanker's Lounge

Shapeways prints in 420 Stainless. It's $8 a cubic centimeter and is actually glued stainless dust sealed with bronze. There's a track link in there somewhere, but I'd have to look into their...

RE: The Tanker's Lounge

If you get far enough to make a workable link, it would be best to draw up a parts-tree that you can incorporate a length of them for molding. I could help you in terms of what you'd need for resin,...

RE: The Tanker's Lounge

Those printers will shine where simple prototyping is needed. I can sculpt a human, but a K98 needs a lot more attention and time. Once printed, the piece could be cleaned up and copied like anything...

RE: The Tanker's Lounge

Makerbot was what I was looking at. Eight bills isn't too bad, considering what it does.

Track links are the main thing that keeps me from scratch building what I'd really like in 1/16, a Pz I....

You'll be spitting out plastic in no time.

I saw a demo of printed 1/48 Sherman tracks at AMPS, must have been over 6 or 7 years ago. They were functional right out of the...

RE: The Tanker's Lounge

You got my attention. With companies like Shapeways and even the reasonably priced home version printers, there's so many possibilities. I'd love to get into that, but with the learning curve of...

RE: The Tanker's Lounge

I think the Tiger design just says 'Go...

RE: The Tanker's Lounge

In NY, since you need the eye exam it's either a trip to the DMV or a trip to the eye doctor, you're waiting either way. Of course I put it off to the day before my birthday, so I had no choice...
