RE: "Eliminator 2" sport jet final assembly

Wow, thank you Sean!

I'll be in touch by no later than Monday... probably sooner. Tomorrow, I'll be gone until early afternoon, but will be home after that.

RE: "Eliminator 2" sport jet final assembly

Obviously, I can't physically fabricate models right now... Have to eat first. So, at the advice of some friends, I've come up with "Plan A". If you're interested in helping me recover, and getting...

RE: "Eliminator 2" sport jet final assembly

Wow...

Thank you everybody, for those very nice words. I do appreciate them, and it helps relieve the obvious disappointment.
This part right now, of starting over, is the toughest, but I'm...

RE: "Eliminator 2" sport jet final assembly

Hello everybody,

A little background is necessary, so you'll understand this announcement...

Until 2002, I was doing these model-related things, including my web site, as an independent...

RE: "Eliminator 2" sport jet final assembly

Hey, no offense taken.

All of the design details and fabrication have been done by me alone. There are 10,000 items to do. So, it's always good to hear what you guys think... Who knows? Maybe I...

RE: "Eliminator 2" sport jet final assembly

Howdy, John. Great to hear from you.

Good suggestions. With the .60 we'd use Zinger 12-6 and Zinger 12-8. With the .91 either of those would work too, but would be at higher RPM's. Turbine...

RE: "Eliminator 2" sport jet final assembly

I haven't put a tail skid on the plane. I would leave that to the builder, depending on what they felt about it.

Since we haven't flown it yet, I don't know if it's a problem. We'll see...

RE: "Eliminator 2" sport jet final assembly

Yes, the support is outstanding, and really makes me feel great. I can't thank everybody enough.

We'll be shooting video and getting still images too, and I'll post them right away when they're...

RE: "Eliminator 2" sport jet final assembly

Send it over! (just kidding)

I want to be clear about the turbine thing...
I think this would be a good-flying turbine kit, but it's quite a way off, unless I could get some pretty serious...

RE: "Eliminator 2" sport jet final assembly

Absolutely...

I appreciate all input, listen to it carefully, and hope no one hesitates to comment. I'm not new to this, but neither do I think I can predict performance with 100% accuracy on a...

RE: "Eliminator 2" sport jet final assembly

Thanks, Andy.

If you've looked around, as I have, trying to do prop/thrust research for model-size props, you know how difficult it is to get accurate answers. But, I agree with your practical...

RE: "Eliminator 2" sport jet final assembly

Thanks very much, Andy.

The only proof is real experience, right? The rest of us, including me, have been taking a conservative guess about all of this, and it's nice to hear from someone who...

RE: "Eliminator 2" sport jet final assembly

Thanks, everybody... I'm receiving what you're transmitting.

The forecast here is calling for rain the next few days anyway, so taking the time to borrow a .90 and do it right won't hold us up....

RE: "Eliminator 2" sport jet final assembly

Who knows? I forgot to tach the engine when I tested it. I'm just speaking in generalities anyway, based on what all the manufacturers say their engine's "practical RPM range" is. (Here's the OS...

RE: "Eliminator 2" sport jet final assembly

Hi Daven,

Thank you for the info on the Zinger props. I should've looked their first, rather than on Tower's site. (where they're not listed!)

Thank you also very much for the offer on...

RE: "Eliminator 2" sport jet final assembly

Thank you, Sean and everyone.

Wow, I do appreciate the offers of loaning us engines. Here's the thing, though...
The plane can't use a prop larger than 12", and still rotate past 10 degrees...

RE: "Eliminator 2" sport jet final assembly

Thank you, guys. I do know you're all right, and appreciate the advice. It spooks me to fly this plane with the current engine, due to the excess weight. I've flown lots of .60-size planes in the...

RE: "Eliminator 2" sport jet final assembly

Thank you! (It's not really that beautiful, if you get up close, but this is the prototype "stand back and take photos from 10 feet or more" paint job.)

We'll get lots of still photos and...

RE: "Eliminator 2" sport jet final assembly

Okiedokiethen...

All the radio gear is installed, basic painting is done, and we're nearly ready for flight testing. Right now, the forecast is calling for about a week of rain...

Oh well,...

RE: "Eliminator 2" sport jet final assembly

The prototype is already overweight, so it won't have those.

Actually, it won't ever have slats, but will have leading edge flaps, like the F-16, F-18, F-22 and F-35. I'm really interested to...

RE: "Eliminator 2" sport jet final assembly

Hi Sean,

Don't have a firm date yet, but we should be doing it "soon." I'll post something here when we're going.

We intend to test it first with a stock OS .61FX, which has been the plan...

RE: "Eliminator 2" sport jet final assembly

I did some of the pinstripes on the top of the "Eliminator 2" today. The second taileron and vertical fin (already painted white in the molds) are being joined, (second photo) and I'll be able to...

RE: "Eliminator 2" sport jet final assembly

Thank you, everybody!

We'll be doing the test flights at Triple Tree. (Joe Nall event field) so it will be off grass. I'll get lots of photos and video.

RE: "Eliminator 2" sport jet final assembly

Thank you, everybody.

It's a strange feeling, honestly. I've gotten so used to thinking of all of these projects as long-term, that it's only now sinking in that we're actually close to flying....
