RE: ASP .21 Series 3

Good luck with it. It's a nice little engine. Post up some RPM figures when you get it broken in. I don't think it's a screamer, I think this one like larger props.

RE: .10 size spad?

Now unless the .10 has the WAY less power than my old worn out LA 15, I respectfully disagree (maybe though, I don't have one). My .15 planes shown here(I'll post images). All well over 2# and...

RE: .10 size spad?

That much dihedral will give you some stellar, un-trainer like performance.

RE: A WORD OF WARNING ABOUT OFF BRANDED ENGINES

No, No, that's a good thing. Better metalargy than the ones being copied.

RE: A WORD OF WARNING ABOUT OFF BRANDED ENGINES

MOTORMAN37 ,
Tower engines are made by the same Chinese Mfg that makes GMS, and have a few issues, most notably air leaks, but are really strong runners, easy to adjust, and shut off once you...

RE: glue problems

No, no incedence, just make sure the ailerons are reflexed an 1/8". Next wing, no matter if it's all 4mm, all 2mm, or RNAF, do not crease over the spar. A nice smooth, curved transition. If it's...

RE: glue problems

That's what I use for 2mm too. You have to watch it though, because it'll wander on you if you don't watch it. Mine has a thin wheel, and a thicker wheel on the other end. For 4mm, i use either a...

RE: glue problems

If you're really worried, stick a couple of zip ties through it.

RE: glue problems

Yep, to maintain strength, you have to use whatever technique that works for you and glue.

To replace the recent loss. The dims are 20" x 2.375" x 2" coro fuse, Mag .15 for power, 48" x 7"tip x 8.5" root, tapered with the ailerons, no hor stab. 1/2" x 3' spar doubled 18" in the...

RE: Will a properly set up flying wing turn faster than a conv. with a tail?

On ave, what style is more popular in combat? The Axe type or the Flying wing type?

RE: Help from the guru's, TS .52 keeps blowing glow plugs?

I blew through the muffler vent, tank lines, pressurized the tank, inspected all the new fuel lines, loosened and re-tightened the head screws. We'll try it tomorrow and see ig inadvertently fixed...

RE: Help from the guru's, TS .52 keeps blowing glow plugs?

Not to my knowledge, but I will check when I get home. Would that cause the described problem? The tank is right behind the firewall, so it's no further away than usual.

Help from the guru's, TS .52 keeps blowing glow plugs?

Ok, nearly new engine, broken-in with Dar's 2-stroke break-in method, with maybe 10-15 tanks through it of 2.5%/20%(50/50) fuel. The tank and lines are brand new, with a scintered clunk. When I...

Ok, i didn't see it, but the tag said today was the day. The battery came loose in a high banked turn and it went in at full throttle. Totaled the fuse and wing, broke a prop, and stripped 1 servo....

A couple of hrs in the hobby room, and look what I came out with:

Actually I ditched all my to-do's, and spent several hrs in the plane room and came out with this:
AUW 2# 6oz, 46in sym wing, 13.5in root chord, 7.5in tip chord, No Horizontal Stab, New Mag .15,...

RE: .10 size spad?

1st you gotta get more coro. Order it from Harbor, beg at the local gas station, etc. Then build a .15 sized FNS with 9 or 10" dihedral, and a 48" span. That .10, unless it's worn out, will pull...

RE: Is it a phenomenon of these little 2-strokes that until well broken in, they will not turn a larger

Dar,
About this prop max speed thing, does that mean that:
Size MAX SPEED
20 8.25K
22 7.5K
24 6.9K

?? I think my MDS 2.18 was spinning the 22x6 at over 8K! ...

RE: Is it a phenomenon of these little 2-strokes that until well broken in, they will not turn a larger

You mean that pinch literally, right? They still have plenty of compression, but the interference is at a minimum, right?

All of my engines have shown dramatic improvement over the course of...
