RE: Flyzone Albatros

I recently bought one as well. I found it to be a great deal since I had a coupon from Tower Hobbies.

I have a passion for WW1 planes and especially the biplanes and sesquiplanes, so I had to...

RE: Recent VK Cherokee Babe build

Thanks ARUP and thanks a lot everyone for the help and advice. I'm still not sure what I want to do yet. I don't think I've exhausted all ideas. In the meantime, I'm going to work on the rest of...

RE: Recent VK Cherokee Babe build

Thanks but that was my obvious choice from the beginning. It wasn't until I was studying that part of the plans and getting prepared that I realized my problem. Check out the pics and difference in...

RE: Recent VK Cherokee Babe build

After a trip to my local hobby shop today, I answered my own question regarding doping first before gluing in the horizontal and vertical stabilizers. I was thinking about covering and trying to fly...

RE: Recent VK Cherokee Babe build

Over the last weekend and through this week, I've add a fuel hatch with a magnetic latch, mounted the wing (which was such an ordeal I'm not sure I want to post about it), and made sure all the...

RE: Recent VK Cherokee Babe build

Then, after removing the sheeting near the center and trailing edge to add two blocks of basswood for wing mount screws, I glued the landing gear block in and I was finished with the wing!

RE: Recent VK Cherokee Babe build

After a couple of stressful days at work and really dwelling on gluing the wing halves together, I spent three nights getting everything prepared and then went at it. You can see in the plan image...

RE: Recent VK Cherokee Babe build

Yaaaaahhhooooo!!!!! I got enough of my computer up to post again!

I lost a week or so of build images that I moved from the camera but never made it to the web or backup before the problem. So...

RE: Recent VK Cherokee Babe build

A little more progress on the left wing half. I'm not sure how typical building a wing this way was, 'back in the day'..., but it's NOT EASY! I really have to study the plans two or three times and...

RE: Recent VK Cherokee Babe build

I made more progress on the left side of the wing today. The plan calls for pinning the bottom spar to the plan and gluing on the ribs. Each rib is pre-made with the jig and dashed line shows were...

RE: Recent VK Cherokee Babe build

The image I posted with the dihedral question is the only reference there is. I'm a scale models fan and I like to try to fly with a scale look as much as possible. I've been browsing the Airliners...

RE: Recent VK Cherokee Babe build

Finished sheeting the horizontal stab and started on the wing today. Sheeting those ribs isn't easy. I'm afraid I may have some warping and probably didn't have my ribs sanded uniformly, but I'll...

RE: Recent VK Cherokee Babe build
