RE: Big Bird XL Construction Pic's Anyone?

Do you have something specific you are looking for? I don't have an XL but the BB is similar (just some added rib bays and I think an extra rib under the sheeting near the root). Mine isn't covered...

RE: Big Bird Wing Sheer webbing

I would completely agree about the minimal weight gain. With the help of the leading edge sheeting and the boxed spar, a D tube is formed and that not only helps with the strength from root to tip...

RE: Big Bird Wing Sheer webbing

I put mine all the way to the tip. Closer to the wing root, those webs are the ply joiner box but from there, the balsa webs go to the tip.

Here is a pretty good picture (not mine):

RE: SIG Mayhem 40: engine and servo recs

I have an OS .46 in mine. Weighed in at 4 lbs. 11 oz when it was all said and done. Flew well with that engine (but I'm not much of a 3-der).

I used standard JR servos on the ailerons and...

RE: RC Airplane hits Paraglider - Causes Crash

It wasn't a 21" model, it was a 48" PSS (composite) sloper. The model did hit the shroud lines and aggravated an already underinflated canopy. The guy was apparently stuggling with it shortly after...

RE: Sig Riser 100

Riser 100 was my first glider (true glider, no power) - I folded the wing on launch but it was my fault. I built mine stock with rubber bands to hold the wings on. If you are beyond a beginner and...

RE: Has RCM folded?

I called them too. The person I talked to said they had a printing snafu. The next issue was due to be either printed or mailed on 7/22.

RE: Toledo

Speaking of seminars, I attended Faye Stilley's covering demonstration - it was great. Well worth the hour to listen and ask questions.

RE: Where to fly in Pittsburg PA

You definately don't need a truck, we have plenty of members who drive various sedans back there, mini vans, etc. I guess if your Saleen has ZERO ground clearance, you might have a tough time. How...

J&C Hobbies is a good one in Penn Hills on Frankstown Road. There is also a Hobby Town in Robinson.

RE: JR reciver caution

You should always turn your transmitter on FIRST and off LAST, that way you won't have servos stalled and trying to drive surfaces to positions they can't.

RE: Vacuum Bagging Techniques

Why not put in a single layer of 1 or 1.5 oz. glass cloth before you put down the CF? It will help eliminate the pinholes and it disappears in the epoxy, you won't even know it is there.

I am glad that there are a number of published plans still available on a regular basis. There seems to be enough variety to keep any builder busy. After a few kits you should be ready to build...
