That's a well thought built by providing access to the flap. I left mine completely closed per Top Flite building manual. However, I used fiber glass links with titanium ends to save on the weight....

I have that option. However, I want to continue learning/practicing with laminating with FG. I know the cowl will cost me much more that buying from them. But I would miss the learning experience....
