RE: Pusher AP plane build thread

Thats one reason I used a heli engine, bigger head, better cooling, however Ive never had any problems with my other twin boom though, the pusher pulls air across the head just like a tractor pushes...

RE: Pusher AP plane build thread

NOTHING SAYS SUCCESS LIKE VIDEO!!!
Very, very nice Mike. It sounds so much like my Grey Ghost when it passes and Im using a .32 heli engine! It flies awesome, ground handling seems really...

RE: Pusher AP plane build thread

If youve ridden in a Chinook it should be snow Beater!:D

Pick a nice, clear day, low wind and conditions that are right for trimming it proper, we'll wait for that!

RE: Pusher AP plane build thread

You needed ballast in the nose to balance it? The engine is in the rear, adding a .91 wont help if thats the case.
Youve got wing loading to spare, my LT 40 LOVES extra weight to properly land,...

RE: Pusher AP plane build thread

Very nice, Mike. It will fly great, the only thing to keep close eye on is the CG, thats about as important as making sure the control surfaces are moving the right way. Also, I wouldnt hook up the...

RE: Pusher AP plane build thread

RE: Pusher AP plane build thread

Mike, you may want to move that futher back toward the engine, putting it above the langing gear plate, itll be nearer the CG and you wont have any balance issues with the fuel tank.

RE: Pusher AP plane build thread

Wide and low. I noticed the nosegear on the other taller Dubro gear looking really spindley and I was worried about it. I like the BTE gear. The Dubro gear is good for tail draggers with a 4...

RE: Pusher AP plane build thread

Its probably the massive chord of the LT40 wing that makes it look small. Itll look better with the elevator attached. Right now its back there on its own. The vertical stabs will make it look more...

RE: Pusher AP plane build thread

Mike, can you order stuff and have it delivered to your house? I noticed the wing kit and all were through an LHS.
I use Dubro, they make real big composite gear also:

RE: Pusher AP plane build thread

Hey Mike, I like the pointy nose, I just cant ever seem to put one on my planes when I build them, I guess Im just a square at heart!:D
You could run the pressure line directly out the firewall...

RE: Pusher AP plane build thread

I keep forgetting you have the wing KIT. Its a little different than the ARF. Make two straight ones, thatll do it.

RE: Pusher AP plane build thread

I used one piece the same size as the original on the Grey Ghost, I guess the benefit of two pieces is you sandwich epoxy in there and its stronger, I use copious amounts of epoxy on wing...

RE: Pusher AP plane build thread

Its all been trial and error, trial and error, repeat!
I like the hinged door and slide out idea, that will be interesting to see, I think itll work fine.

RE: Pusher AP plane build thread

I like!! Thats very innovative, looks like your AP shp will be like Dan's, very clean and neat, I really like his Pegasus for the way he set things up. I try to be like that, my impatience usually...

RE: Pusher AP plane build thread

Mike, they also make spacers to extend the muffler from the engine, you might try one of these if it appears the muffler is going to be too close to where you want it, and they usually come with...

RE: Pusher AP plane build thread

I did get off on a tangent there, lets keep it to the build! Dan, would you recommend maybe a pitts muffler and moving the engine a little above the thrustline? Get the head into the air rushing...

RE: Pusher AP plane build thread

Ok, heres the pics, you can see why I mounted it this way, the muffler is down and clear of the fuse.
I expected to get flow out of the carb when its sitting, the tank is a little lower than the...
