Thanks for that explanation...makes sense to me. The batteries are all 7 cell batteries (7 *1.2V = 8.4V), so why would they charge at over 10? Is that normal for NIMH batteries?

According to Racers Edge, the SureCharge does not have the storage mechanisms of the Hyperion. Just the last setting.

Dave.....Icharged one of the Duratrax 5000mah batteries overnight with the wall wart charger. Before charging the multi-meter registered 6V. After charging for 14.75 hours, it registered 8.5V...

3000mah Traxxas 7A
5000mah Duratrax #1 8A
5000mah Duratrax #2 9A

Understood. The original charger didn't seem to work. Batteries showed no warmth at all when charging (Traxxas states that they should be warm after 5 hours).

They sent a 2nd charger...same...
