RE: AccuCycle Question

Thanks, I think you nailed it... It did discharge first on that side only. Apparently the Tx battery was completely dead as it immediately went to charge on that side. So red indicating discharge...

AccuCycle Question

When I hooked up my 4 cell NiCad Rx battery for cycling, I got a solid red Output Select LED. On the other side, I was cycling my 8 cell NiCad Tx battery pack and had the expected solid green LED. ...

New O.S. 60FP makes buzzing sound at low RPM

It's really a weird sound... and it goes away with a bit of throttle, but is very noticable at taxi speeds. My instructor says it was a pretty common quirk for these particular engines and that it...

Engine Start by bouncing off the compression stroke?

My instructor started my plane (O.S. 60FP) this way this weekend and I thought "wow that's pretty slick. No starter required and no wear and tear on the spinner".

He said it's not difficult but...

After 12yrs of waiting, I'm finally in the air again!!!

After a 12 year interuption, I finally resumed my flight training yesterday with a succussful first flight of my Tiger Trainer 60 (which, with a host of interuptions, took almost 8yrs to finish). ...

RE: Support the Little Man (LHS or Online)????

I'm in my LHS several times a week buying little parts and widgets I need. I buy most things from the LHS but if they are way out of bed on the price, I will go online. Recently I gave my Eagle 2...

RE: Your best building blunders! ...post em' here.

Here's another one, fresh off the workbench...

If your trainer does not have clear windows and the wing rubber bands on (with what 30 or so rubber bands), installing the Voltwatch inside the...

Your best building blunders! ...post em' here.

Since I just made one, I thought it'd be fun to read about some others...

I'm finishing up my trainer and one of the last steps was to connect the fuel lines to the engine. Now this was an ARF...

Cowel attachment - wood screws or blind nuts

The instructions for my Tiger Trainer 60 say to attach the cowel with wood screws into pre-drilled (1/16") holes soaked with CA glue. I followed these instructions and the cowel seems pretty firmly...

RE: Older Batteries

Doesn't the Accu-cycle take care of computing all that stuff for me? Or should I be overriding it's settings?

RE: 9.6 Volts-Fly? or No Fly?

Not sure about Futaba, but both my JR manuals X388s and 9303 recommend not flying below 9.0v. 8.4 seems kinda risky! Is the alarm level something you can set on a Futaba? If so, I'd set it higer...

Older Batteries

I have a Tx (8 cell, 9.6v, 700mAh) and an Rx (4 cell, 4.8v, 700mAh) battery pack that I've had since around 2005 or so and was wondering when or how to tell if they need replacing... Although pretty...

RE: First Post - NEWBIE - Trainer/Plane Questions

I'll second that, Goldberg Eagle is a very solid first plane. If you get the kit it's a great build (if you enjoy building) and if you don't it's available as an ARF.

RE: Mounting the Engine at a slight angle.

I asked my instructor about it and he said as long as it's not angled the wrong way it's fine. His exact quote was "Just means you'll have do some pilot stuff to compensate for it..."

Voltwatch and JR Receivers

Newbie question:
I just bought a Voltwatch for my plane and noticed the connection plug has the little polarity tab (Futaba?). At any rate JR receivers don't have this notch. Is it ok to just...

RE: Mounting the Engine at a slight angle.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I think when I said "angled to the right" I was thinking of myself facing the airplane (sorry, should have referenced it from the plane's perspective). Just to...

Mounting the Engine at a slight angle.

I'm putting the finishing touches on my Tiger Trainer 60 and made a slight error when mounting the engine. The instructions call for the thrust line to be angled slightly the left to counter the...

RE: Great Planes Tracer - Good first pattern plane?

Some older threads (2002-2003) said they were going to discontinue this plane. Did they decide to keep it? Or are they still selling old stock?

RE: OS60FP First start-up in 3yrs

Sorry, I guess I was assuming 50/50. I don't recall the manufacturer, but I'll find out and report back. Sounds like I need to pick up a bottle or castor so will do as I want this motor to last......

RE: OS60FP First start-up in 3yrs

The fuel I have is a 10% Nitro, 18% Castor/syn blend. This is the same fuel I used back in '05 when I was breaking it in (ok, it's not the exact same fuel, I bought a new jug). At any rate, it...
