RE: Carl Goldberg PITTS S12 MONSTER

I'm still flying mine, and it gets better with every flight. Powered by os 108 which is plenty of power for me. It will fly nice smooth maneuvers and lands very well with some power applied.

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

If it weighs less than 11 lbs, it sounds like a fluke to me.:D

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

The Pitts balanced slightly nose down with the cg set at the foward measurement as recommended in the book. I have a 2200 ma nicad battery under the tank. I tried to keep it on the ground longer...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

MadDog, the 1.08 is the perfect engine for this plane. My problem was that the engine was brand new ( I think I got the last one that Tower had in stock), and possibly the run-in I did wasn't quite...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

I have the same set-up as MadDog with an O.S. 1.08, and I also had the same experiences with dead-stick landings. I think if you do not over-power with a heavy large bore engine, your wing loading...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

greyfoxx, I don't think that the model 12 Pitts is the plane to use for 3-d. It flies very well as a sport flier, but that is all I do because I am into learning aerobatic maneuvers which this...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

I've had three deadsticks with my Pitts, mostly due to running my OS 1.08 a little too rich and the fire got put out. The Engine only has less than six tanks run thru it. If you keep the nose down...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Just measured mine..It's about 53" from the front of the cowl to the end of the rudder, add another 3-3/4" for the spinner.

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

If you look up 3-blade props Tower Hobbies, the specs say to use one inch smaller diameter OR one inch smaller pitch than the 2 blade prop you would normally use.

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

OK............ not such major surgery, but after spending a good evening taking out all the wrinkles when I first started on this plane I'm not too anxious to tear into the covering. If I can find...

countryboy a picture is worth a thousand words.... very neatly done. Just tell me how you glued in the middle support in the rear of the fuse without cutting open the covering?

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Thanks, countryboy. Your pictures aren't opening on the post yet, but I've already routed the antenna the way maddog did--- through the cockpit and out a piece of fuel tubing to the top of the fin. ...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Thanks for your input, guys. I was thinking of running an antenna tube through the former just aft of the wing saddle and exit it through the plywood just ahead of the tail wheel on the bottom of the...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

I could use some suggestions on securing an antenna tube inside the fuselage. How do you keep it from flopping around inside? I don't wqnt to cut the covering to be able to reach inside the fuse to...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Thanks Maddog, I'll do the two channel set-up and have one less set of wires in the fuse. I've set up single servos like this before so it should work in this installation. That was a good...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Cad, I don't think I want to do major surgery in the tail section. If I am using a 1.08 engine to keep it balanced I would rather mount the two elevator servos alongside the rudder servo and mount...
