Yes I'd thought about that. The airborne plan certainly builds lighter and requires a smaller engine. Bob Rich's plan is way closer to scale. We'll see when I get around to building one.

Found my old catalog. It appears to be a Wave King wingspan 72”. They had a second 72” flying boat called the Sea Witch. It has a pusher prop and a much more raked back windscreen.
