RE: JR DS285 reviews?

I'm running them on my Diablo and they've worked quite well. I did have to rebuild them to replace stripped gears. I used the metal gears intended for the S241 servo to rebuild my DS285s (they fit...

RE: 450v2 Belt

The V2 uses the same belt as the V1 and, yes, there is a stronger aftermarket belt:

RE: Batteries for TREX 500

Just to emphasize the seriousness of rob-atl's warning, I mistakenly connected two 3S packs to my Maxpro X6 charger/balancer incorrectly and managed to burn up the balance connector on one of them. ...

RE: T-Wrecks???

During my Diablo's first few flights, it was the victim of a heli-eating rosemary bush...twice. Other than that, the worst run-ins with the ground have always been when I've lost control at low...

RE: FlightPower Lipo?

Air Thunder uses the same cells as Kong Power. I've been very impressed with the consistency of the power over the duration of a charge with my one Air Thunder 3S 2200. Make no mistake, though: my...

RE: DX6 and the DX7

If you ever plan to go to a nitro heli, go for the DX7. You'll need the extra channel if you put a governor on it, which is highly recommended.

RE: Couple Easy Questions About Trex 450

You only need 4 servos: 3 for the swashplate and one for the tail.

As for a good web site, I would recommend HeliFreak (http://www.helifreak.com/). "Finless" Bob White has an entire section,...

RE: Is nitro worth the trouble?

I'm mostly mechanically-inept, so I find the plug-and-go convenience of electric appealing. However, I hate being at the field and having to wait for batteries to recharge, so I've decided to add a...

RE: Why do they call it a 450? (strange question)

RC-Tek has already started doing this. However, since the legacy sizing conventions are so deeply engrained in most people's minds, they've taken the approach of putting the blade length in...

RE: Lithium iron phosphate batteries

There have been advances even in the Li-Poly arena to make packs safer, most notably the chemistries used in the Kong Power and Air Thunder packs.

RE: $ no issue, whats the best battery for the rex

I have an Air Thunder 3S 2200 and it's quite impressive too. Like the Kong Power packs, it is supposedly puff-proof. I also have two FP EVO25 3S 2170s and one TP Extreme 3S 2200 and all three have...

RE: Blade CX2 Mods are Definitely worth it

The gyro in the CX2 is piezo-electric, which means that it's horribly sensitive to temperature, not to mention the fact that it only supports rate mode.

I agree. Just about everybody has had one of those "duh" moments, so why should you be any different? :)

RE: 450 se's stable in wind?

I agree with the others. The last time I flew my 450-class Diablo, the wind was over 10 mph and gusty; I had a hard time keeping it under control, resulting in an early crash. A constant wind is...

RE: Picked up my 1st Gas Heli, need some help.

Go to "Finless Bob's Helifreak Tech Room" over at HeliFreak.com (http://www.helifreak.com/) and check out the build videos. The T-Rex 450 SE thread has good videos for general radio setup and the...

RE: Longer Flybar

A longer flybar will increase cyclic response because the paddles are moving faster through the air, so when they deflect, they'll provide greater lift. If the paddles are weighted, a longer flybar...

RE: A good Heli

The T-Rex is very capable. If you get bored with your flying, there are almost always other maneuvers you can learn.

As for tools, you'll mainly need these for putting it together:

Two...

RE: keep the heli low or high?

I don't see the point. If you want different response on throttle and pitch, change the curves.

I started with about 40% expo on aileron and elevator and have now reduced it to 10%. I found it...

RE: Tail slightly moving to the left...

Mine does about the same thing and I'm not sure that it's not within normal bounds. Half a minute is a long time.

RE: DX7 setting for my 450 SE V2, will they work?

My only comment would be that you might want a steeper throttle curve at the bottom end of the Normal curve. If you get the heli in wind, you may need the extra throttle with the small amount of...

RE: Question about Revo Mixing and HH Gyros

That is correct. Revo Mixing is only useful for rate mode.

RE: 6ex or dx7?

The 6EX does not have subtrims nor does it have a separate throttle hold pitch curve (it uses the Normal mode pitch curve). Both are quite important to have in a heli, IMO.

RE: Good charger for Trex lipo's

I think that's only true if the battery is spec'ed for up to a 2C charge rate. I know of no empirical evidence that shows charging at less than 1C has any impact on battery service life.
