I have never encountered that a prop nut would come lose using an electric starter (Sullivan)or flipping the prop by hand on any engine be it four stroke or two stroke....

the rpm I mentioned is for best flying performance using the best props ( RAM. Graupner G-sonic and APC) not what the engine could rew...which is unimportant in sport engines.

First check the valve seat and the surface on the valve! The surface should be uniform and not pitted. I have never seen a pitted valve seat or valve surface during my 48 years in this hobby.

Here in Europe where we use no nitro or around just 5% nitro, Enya 3-4 ,OS 8, Rossi 3-4 ,Nova Rossi 3-4 in two strokes (and many more) and only OS F plug in four strokes!

If your engine has been sitting for a decade or more I can promise you that the ball bearings need replacement and the engine needs cleaning to get rid of all gummed up castor oil.

The 14x4 APC will be just fine ...if you set the needle so the engine runs well! The rule of thumb is to shoose prop to what plane you have ,not to what rpm the engine best deliver its power....
