RE: clutch for BlackJack 55

You'll need to give it a little toss into the water to get going. Bonus is that you really won't be idling around so you can ditch the water pump. Handling is fine, shouldn't be any different as you...

RE: clutch for BlackJack 55

My clutch failed early on. A close inspection showed that the problem was different length of the four rods that support the bearing flange which the clutch bell rides in. This caused misalignment of...

RE: Engine dies when boat placed in water

Why not pull the water pickup lines and give it a quick shot once it's on the water to see if it still dies. If it does lean if it doesn't water leak. A quick shot on the water just to confirm and...

RE: blown crank bearings on bj55

The information in my post above is copied and pasted straight from the BJ55 owners manual. Some like a little more oil. I live in a cooler climate so the standard OEM ratio works fine for me. Like...

RE: blown crank bearings on bj55

Where did you come up with 50-1? See attachment from page 6 of the BJ55 owners manual. 32:1 is okay for an unmodded motor in temperate climates.

RE: Looking into Boats

Any recommendations?

A lot of people will recommend building it yourself. While that may be your thing do take the time to consider the cost of materials and tools you may well only use once....

RE: Custom electric boat builders

I looked at Paul's website and he states that he has moved on from electric to gas.

I'm in favour of the MHZ Mystic C5000 hull at 114 cm/45". That with a twin setup built to achieve 50 mph would...

RE: Custom electric boat builders

30 years working in the electrical/electronics field. All day everyday. Everything from toasters to missle guidance systems. Not sure I'd call myself a virgin. Actually I have two children so that...

RE: Custom electric boat builders

Not looking for an electric powered canoe. That would be a bit too big. I'm thinking more in the range of 40-50 inches.

RE: Custom electric boat builders

It would seem the abbreviations used by those in this hobby are specific to the hobby. I'm assuming 6S means 6 batteries in series and 2P means to packs in parallel?

No replies on builders of...

RE: Custom electric boat builders

5 minutes would certainly not be what I'm looking for. The smaller ones just don't appeal to me, too small. Plus I'm on Georgian bay so I'd like something that doesn't require glass smooth water.

RE: Custom electric boat builders

$2K should be enough for a decent toy I would think. I have a Proboat now and the experiecne has taught me that I would probably not get another one. Good starter boat for some but not what I'm after.

RE: Custom electric boat builders

I'm looking for a scale Catamaran or Deep Vee. Too much going on at home to have time to build, just want something to play with. I have a gas boat now but I find it difficult to find a good time to...

RE: general boat setup for good speed and handling

Yep, set the boat on a table top and measure the gap between the ferrule on the prob shaft where it meets the flex shaft coming out of the stuffing tube. The propellers used on these models are...

RE: Blackjack 55 Flex shaft/prop install question

Umm, not quite. Black Jack uses a square drive that pushes on the strut not the engine. The drive end floats free in the clutch bell. The prop will work it's way to the strut either way. When you...

RE: Some pictures from Warwick 6-19-2010

Looks like that rigger would be a tough unit to catch with a video camera. Nice pictures despite your hardware failure.

RE: 55 MPH Blackjack 55

If you look at my pictures in the link you'll note that the enlarged hole is centered about half an inch closer to center then the original. The pipe is now 3/8" back from where it is in the picture...

RE: 55 MPH Blackjack 55

You'll need to make the hole bigger for the pipe anyway. Get the powermaster with 1 inch pipe. I used a hole saw to make a new hole. Taped the surface so as not to chip the gel coat too much. In...
