RE: G 38 enough to fly a YA Spitfire

I personally would go for a bit more performance than the G38 will give. However, I have NO doubt that the 38 would fly the plane just fine. But for the difference in price I would go for the larger...

RE: help locating retracts for P-51

I doubt the Sierra gear will be a drop in fit. However it would be worth any mods for the dependability of the gear. Darrel makes awesome gear...second to none. You can't go wrong with it.

RE: Ziroli F8F

This is very much like what I did last December. I bought a Ziroli P51 short kit. Next I ordered the plans fron Ziroli, and the cowl, canopy, and the belly scoop. Then I bought the engine, a ZDZ80,...

RE: determined not to have a bad day

Absolutely! But you know to get her started with a trainer before you risk the Cub, of course.

I think you are lucky to have a spouse who is motivated to learn more about it and support you in...

RE: H9 Spitfire Build

FWIW, my firewall seperated one morning as I was preparing for flight. I put the starter to it and noticed a "bit" of extra play...after some epoxy and glass I have not had a problem. I am glad I...

RE: CMP 160 sized Texan

The Robart gear will fit...with mods. The Sierra gear that Darrel offers are by far the best quality, and they are made for this plane. You get what you pay for. Mine operate flawlessly. No leaks, no...

RE: New Comp Arf Corsair !

Hmm, I suppose I will be putting this one on my tick list. The folding wing option would be cool. Darrel does awesome work at Sierra.

RE: warbird monokote or fiberglassing

ARF=Monokote...Kit built, scale anything=fiberglass.

Monokote has some advantages over glass in some applications, and vice versa.

I like glass myself.

RE: Kit Cutters Build vs Mass Produced Kit????

Don''t forget Ziroli either. I am building my first giant scale P51 from plans, and a short kit. It has been very straight forward. I am buiding a set of foam wings for it, but that is the only major...

RE: scale functional exhaust for gas engines

For the P51 you can go with a Jtec....do a search for it. It comes in 1/5 and 1/4 scale, and is around $150.00 shipped. It is the way to go I think...not to take anything away from Keleo systems. I...

RE: How Long

A Ziroli Mustang fuselage has taken me going on four months now. I expect the wing will take almost that. Then all the little finishing details....about a year I'd say. Depends on how anxious you...

RE: FiberClassics P-51 now Comp-ARF P-51

Yep! I saw it there today. It's kind of pricey...but I'm sure it is worth it. I am building a Ziroli Mustang presently, and it will be way less than $9000.00 when it's done. I have used a few ideas...

I've used Warbird Colors too, and would use them again. Latex base, with a fuel proof clear might be possible too. I have done that with good results.

Rattle cans are not going to give you the...

RE: Elmer's wood glue? Anyone using it?

I've used most all the glues mentioned here, and the one I use the most is either Elmers Wood Glue, or Titebond. Either one applied correctly, on a correctly prepared surface is plenty strong for...

RE: CMP 160 sized Texan

I'm using the stock muffler. My maiden went smooth too. Plane is a great flyer. Little aileron trim was needed, and the G26 pulls it along nicely at half throttle. landing was uneventful, but takeoff...
