RE: Black Horse Macchi C.200

I have four flights on my third Macchi. Not fast with the Laser but still a sweet flyier. The ailerons had to be capped on each of mine. It does fly OK with a dangling aileron[:o]

RE: Interest in 1/4 scale WWII pilot...

Lyle makes the best. He has a German WW I so far. I have discussed turning this into a gen avaition pilot for my 1/4 Ryan PT-22. When the time comes it will be a go. Give him some incentive and...

RE: Black Horse Macchi C.200

The Saito 180 is much more power than needed or wanted. I can't stand the engine hanging out of the cowl either. I don't have a need for speed, I do have a need for looks. YMMV

I just did the...

RE: Black Horse Macchi C.200

I paid $350 last year. It is a nice flier but not worth $500 IMHO. Look around and you should be able to find one.

RE: Landings optional?

OUCH

That was some nice 109 slipping and go around though.

RE: Macchi 202/205 RC plans and 3dmodel

A 1/4 Macchi C200 with a 150 Moki should be heaven. I am jealous and drooling over the thought. Real planes have round engines! It will be magnificent.

RE: Macchi 202/205 RC plans and 3dmodel

If you are going to compete then find a real Macchi and 3-views that are close to that. Rules follow documentation. I have seen the different cowl shapes and have decided to use what will allow the...

RE: Black Horse Macchi C.200

I have a build thread over on RCSB. Getting very close to paint time. Power by Saito 450r. Next build will be the Ryan then an enlarged MAN Macchi C200 using a Saito 325. Lord nows when that will...

RE: Black Horse Macchi C.200

I like smaller parties anyway. My taste in planes is, I have been told, unique..... Grumman Wildcat, Brewster Buffalo, Macchi C200, Bucker Jungmeister, PT-22 Ryan with Kinner........ I guess real...

RE: Black Horse Macchi C.200

My gear doors came off the first landing and stayed off after that. I don't like the idea but I wanted to fly and not fix. I suspect some E6000 glue on the mounts would keep the twist down and...

RE: Black Horse Macchi C.200

At 11 lbs or so I decided not to use flaps. I spot glued them closed. I found the C200 to land very nicely. Well except for two times but I wasn't in final when landing (lawndart) occured. Only...

RE: Black Horse Macchi C.200

Centauro, I like to fly the same way, smooth and scale like. You might have the problem with a high idle. My Laser 120 is not very powerful and I think the C200 is a real floater. I always use a...

RE: Which prop???

I have found lower pitch larger dia works better on bipes. I do try different prop sizes until I am happy with the performance of the specific plane. When I change pitch I usually change dia to...

RE: Black Horse Macchi C.200

I did not put much throw into my first C200 and it flew great on the maiden. On my second C200 I had a bit to much aileron which made it very twitchy. I had no problems at all landing with the CG...

RE: Water bourne primer

If you are painting or priming over bare balsa that could be a concern. I glass mine using epoxy before priming and painting. I have some Dupont water based primer that seems to sand fairly well...

RE: Cracked Canopy Repair

Freeze it first then drive a small nail through to get puncture cracks for real field use. I always leave some DNA in my builds[:@]

RE: Cracked Canopy Repair

I have cracked many canopies. Glue works well and clear tape can be a field fix.

RE: Macchi C202 Folgore

Chad, you could put a sheet over the background items to reduce clutter. Looking nice! I have a C200 on my short list.

RE: Horizon's choices

Saito is introducing a big 3 cyl gas four stroke.

Personally I prefer the 450 glow. Works very well in 30 lb planes.

RE: TF FW190 GIANT ARF

I build and detail to satisfy myself. I rarely succeed but that is another story. IMHO detailing is about looking closely at the model not from 20 ft. If you don't care don't detail. I fly...

RE: Tail-heavy Top-Flite Spitfire

The only warbird I have built that was nose heavy is the Bucker Jungmeister. It still came out heavy and I was very surprised about the CG. Make the tail as light as possible, pull-pull helps,...
