IF (big IF) the problem is RFI, you may want to add the Tech Aero IBEC. In addition to powering the CDI directly from the airborne battery and giving the convenience of remote (Transmitter) arming...

Sounds like not enough prop was used. A 17x8 apc prop is turned well by a 15cc glow engine.

The GF40 will work fine. Use the 20x6 props; find narrow props. I think APC makes good narrow blades.

The 0s 33GT is a 2 stroke and has a little more power for lower weight. That is probably an...

Hahahahaha.....

Well, they do have their place. Believe it or not I am looking into the YS200; when it becomes available I just have to get one of them. It will cost a grand but what the heck....

RE: O.S. GF40 4st gas

TB,

Mezjlik makes a carbon 3 blader that should work well on the 40cc 4 stroker. It's an 18x10. It's pricy tho (80$ plus S+H)....Nevertheless, if 3 bladers are the only thing stoppingthe project,...

RE: O.S. GF40 4st gas

As an aside, I just ordered the VVRC 40 twin. Vibes and sound should be minimal....I intend to run this one with pipes also andI think it should turn 21x10 apc at about 7K....I'm also in process of...

RE: O.S. GF40 4st gas

Rex, no I am not. About the only thing I like is the sound a 4 stroker makes. Powerwise it is not in the same league as the 33, 2 stroke.....Weight is a fat 1300 grams compared to 950 for the 33. I'd...

RE: O.S. GF40 4st gas

The muffled GT33 will turn the same props as the 4 stroker 300-400 rpm more, conservatively.

The piped GT33 will turn much more prop to the numbers I quoted above. Actually, Avgas produces 300-400...

RE: O.S. GF40 4st gas

That's not a surprise really. XOARs are often higher loading than other props of same dia and pitch....BUT they don't produce any more thrust in my experience, just more noise from the tips

These...

RE: O.S. GF40 4st gas

Sounds like the engine uses the standard 8mm shaft size, same as on their 33cc 2 stroke. APC has that hub size standard on their props. APC has recentlyreleased several props intended for the YS170...
