RE: cox 24k .049

I'm really missing out on some nice 1/2 A explosions. All I have ever used in all my .049's is fuels like Omega 10%, running at 15,000RPM.:D

RE: Tuning By the Smoke Coming From the Pipe

RE: Tuning By the Smoke Coming From the Pipe

Just for giggles, Reset the needles, set the LSN so it is flush with the recess. Close the HSN and reopen it 4 turns. This will give you a chance to start fresh. BTW, count the turns on the HSn when...

RE: McCoy .049 MK1

I have seen this, first hand. The crank pin is the first thing to go on these at high RPM. I like to prop them big.

RE: cox 24k .049

Soo, I wanna know how this seller got this engine to get this 24K. I know if I was gullible enough to buy one of these things, I would be real sore if i couldnt achieve the same results.

RE: Cox .049 engines- old style

It has one, with the "reed stop". I really like it, but my Medallion .15 is a smoother "stutter free" runner. This Sportsman .15 has such a taper in the cylinder. It must have been made when the...

RE: Get Yer Motor Runnin' ...

One important thing to know, That engine is either an OS 35, or 40 Fp. These engines came in ABN versions and the earlier ones had iron pistons in steel cylinders. The ABN ones break in easy, the...

RE: Cox .049 engines- old style

I am a Aircraft Structures tech in the Airforce and in the early 1980's we stopped using all sources of Beryllium copper. It was determined that when you machine it and over heat it, the smoke would...

RE: Do you know this needle valve?

The spray bar for these was a piece of threaded brass (threaded the whole length) with Two brass nuts. It had Two "jets " drilled in it opposite each other (sometimes that varied). Because of it's...

RE: McCoy .049 MK1

What mods did you do to hop it up? I'm thinking now that even an anemic Medallion .049 will out perform my McCoys ,on a 6X3.

RE: Cox .049 engines- old style

My Thermal Hopper and Sportsman .15 use the same "petal reeds". I am understanding that lousyflyer is referring to the ones from the late 1960's - late 70's ( the four point ones)

RE: Tuning By the Smoke Coming From the Pipe

If this is a new engine, it is not uncommon for the coil to get damaged during break in. On the other hand running real lean will make the coil go away too. Unfortunately when this happens ,it...
