RE: Carl Goldberg PITTS S12 MONSTER

Hey, do any of you guys have a spare canopy that you will be willing to sell me? Mine parted ways with the fuselage while in flight and was torn in half in the process. Or maybe you know where I...

RE: Carl Goldberg PITTS S12 MONSTER

Fly it man. I've followed you for years on this. It is a nice gentle plane to fly. Just don't get too slow on landing. I still have mine. It has a lot of time on it. Replaced the gear more than...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Let us know how it flies. Yours is about 3 lbs lighter than mine, but I have a YS 140 on the front. It flies scale like, but is no rocket. Still I really enjoy it.

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Hey Hoverlow, I like the color combination you chose in your repair. It gives your Pitts some unique personality, and sets it apart from all of our blue and yellows planes. Nice job.

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Using the stand on the bathroom scales method, mine came in at 11 lbs. 15 ozs. with a YS 140 sport and some old heavy muffler I bought years ago at Central Hobbies.

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Maddog, I have a YS 140 Sport in mine. & I experience the same problem. At full throttle or close to it, the plane flies well, but if I back off a little, or make too big of a loop, or hold a long...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Waagbuck, I have the same set up on my Monster. I bought a small Top Flight dummy radial engine, cut out one of the false cyclinders for air flow and glued it to the inside of the cowl. Had to do...

Mine fits fully assembled in the back of a Toyota Sequoia at about a 45 degree angle.

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Hey man, that's too bad. I've tried to put mine in an inverted flat spin and never could. Guess I won't try any more! The Pitts is a fun plane. I've seen the GP Extra fly with your engine set up...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Guys, I used the standard setup, with the exception of putting a brace about halfway back, in the fuselage. I used a piece of 1/4 inch balsa, drilled a hole in it, slipped it over the pushrod and...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

MadDog, what size prop is your 1.08 swinging? I have a YS 1.40 Sport on mine and am very happy with it. Probablyl similar in power to the 1.08. Mine lands very mildly. It will float for a short...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

MadDog, I bought a TopFlite dummy radial engine kit and put it in. I think it was the .60 size. Then I just removed one cylinder to let the air flow over my YS140 Sport. But I also opend the...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Tailskid, I'm using 3 Y harnesses. It's a simple solution, but doesn't allow the fine individual adjustment that seperate channels will. It works fine for my thoough.

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Jerry, that looks really nice. What did you use for the dummy radial engine? I used a Top-Flite, the one that fits their .60 size Corsair. Had to add just a little tail weight. Don't know the all...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

e-dave; I've been flying mine all summer and have had no issues come up. It's fun to fly and looks good in the air. Some of the guys here have had problems with a knife edge, but as some others...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Hey Countryboy, I left my wings just as they were on assembly. Pretty much what you measured yours at. I had to dial in a little down elevator, but nothing too serious at all. I'm using the tank...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Mike, I just write a note describing the symptoms, and usually give them a budget to stay within or return the engine. Include your phone number and/or email address, and they're real good about...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

I put a YS 140 Sport in mine. It has plenty of power to fly. Very good vertical, loops are no problem. Stall turns are as good as my pattern plane. I think the 1.08 will be a good choice, and...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Excellant review Norman, I've been wanting to see a report from a pilot using a glow engine. Too bad about the knife edge though. All the other reports have indicated the same thing. Did you use...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Hey Norman, I see you're in Fayetville. Our son lives in Bentonville, and I've wanted to bring a plane down from Kansas and fly, but we don't know where there is a field in the area. Where do you...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Are you going without the wing struts? I had a bipe I flew that way once, and it was fine. But I didn't know if this big of a bird would take the stress.

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

I ran into the same thing, so I just switched sides and made it like the photos in the manual. Assumed the kit manufacturer was looking at it from the front, and not the pilots view.

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Has anyone put any kind of a deflector in the front of the cowl to keep so much air from entering the engine compartment? I've put two holes in the bottom of the cowl to let the air escape, but they...
