RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Yup, it's been discontinued for several months now, unfortunately. Great Planes bought out Goldberg, and it seems that most of the nice Goldberg ARF's have since been discontinued.

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

I had the 1.60 on mine, and had no balance or weight issues at all. DEFINITELY enough power and then some.;)

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

No, the Monster is NOT a 3D plane. It will do some basic 3D stuff if you set it up right, but nothing like I suspect you are referring to. But then again, the full scale Pitts 12 wont do everything...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Mancha is exactly right. This plane wont glide deadstick for s#&t no matter WHAT engine is on the nose. It's a short winged fat little brick that drops REALLY quick with a dead engine, and you'd...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Easiest way to set up the ailerons (and the recommended way in the manual) is to use three Y-harnesses. Upper ailerons on one, lower on the second, and both of those into the third which goes into...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

That's exactly what I did (keep it in one piece) when I had mine, but I have a trailer also. I did, however, haul it a couple of times in the bed of my truck, so I would think you might be able to...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Good luck on getting another cowl... I had one (operative word being HAD), and had to order a new cowl a few months ago due to crash damage. At that time, I got the only one they had in stock, and...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Well, my Monster is history! Flew it this evening, and on the third flight, I decided to do a spin. As I entered the spin, the plane all of a sudden snapped inverted and began an inverted flat...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Cad, did you move your engine 1/2" further to the rear? That should help the CG issue with a gas engine I would think. I'm REALLY toying with going to a gasser on mine... I've got a GP Extra 300S...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Thats true. I hadnt seen the numbers for the G-20. The thing didnt feel that heavy when I looked it over in the shop. Much lighter than the Evolution 26 I checked out at the same time. I've got a...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

YOu had that much trouble balancing with the Saito?? My OS 1.60 weighs 32.6 oz without the muffler, and I added a Bison Pitts muffler to it (not sure about the weight). Mine balanced perfect with...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

I've been toying with the idea of going gas on my Pitts for a while now. I love the OS 1.60 I have, but it IS way too much engine. Took a look at the new Zenoah G-20 with electronic ignition at my...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

I also had steering problems with the stock tailwheel assembly when I first put it on. I took it off and installed a Sullivan unit, but couldnt keep the wire stuck in the bottom of the rudder for...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

OR the OS 1.60 I've got on mine. This thing is so overpowered it's crazy. I'm seriously thinking about taking it off and replacing it with an OS 1.08 or maybe a 1.20AX, and putting this 1.60 on my...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

I'm using a 3.5" Tru Turn spinner, and it looks a little better than the 3". I've used it with an 18x6 Pro Zinger before, so you should have no problems getting it to fit.

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Yeah, I think that's what I'll do. I'll probably order the prop today. Just judging from the way this engine runs now, I'm thinking it will work fine. At the very least, if it doesn't work I'll...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

I love that yellow prop... looks cool! What size spinner are you running? I've got the 3.5" Tru Turn on mine, and it seems to be pretty close to scale. The OS manual lists a 17x10 in the...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Nah, it's not bad at all. I cut a new gear plate this morning and the epoxy is curing as we speak. Also drilled and pinned the edges of it to see if that will give it a bit more strength. When the...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

One flight characteristic I did notice is that this plane will quickly snap out of a loop if you use too much elevator. It doesnt take much at all, and there's a very fine line between just enough...

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER

Finally got to fly mine again today after rebuilding it, only to rip the landing gear out of it again on the first flight. I miscalculated my fuel burn slightly, and she deadsticked on final. I...
