RE: Top Flite Staggerwing

I'm still alive and kicking, Wally. Just haven't been able to do much with the hobby lately. Too much other stuff going on. But health-wise, I think I'm okay... I just ran the Atlanta marathon...

RE: Club Enya

I've posted this before, but for those that like to hear the VT-240 run, here's a short video of my Staggerwing flying

RE: Top Flite Staggerwing

The 300 is more motor than necessary, but it would not be grossly overpowered. It would also not be too heavy. This plane needs the nose weight. Prop clearance is also not a problem. While the...

RE: Top Flite Staggerwing

I flew mine for two years with the 170R3. Once in the air, it's a good combination. Takeoff power is marginal, especially if you have a grass runway. I upgraded to an Enya VT-240 and have been...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Here's my largest twin. 100 cubic inches and 100+ hp. Sounds as sweet as any Saito twin :)

RE: Top Flite Staggerwing

How are you going to handle the exhaust? Do you have a collector ring?

RE: Top Flite Staggerwing

It looks fine. It's really not that sensitive. Fly it already!

RE: Top Flite Staggerwing

I flew mine for two years with a Saito 1.70 radial. It was marginal for our field's 300' grass runway. Takeoff was always scary. It would have probably been fine on asphalt. I put the 1.70 on a...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Filling the cylinder with after-run oil and then re-installing the glow plug would work better than string. The hydraulic lock will be much more positive. Applying heat to the loc-tite will...

RE: Top Flite Staggerwing

I'm glad to hear that my Staggerwing isn't the only one that sounds like a pickup truck full of garbage can lids when it's taxiing. The Robart gear is amazingly noisy! Great flying!

RE: P-6E Curtis hawk (build thread)

Oh good, you're going to reopen this can of worms! Here's the first of many widely varying opinions: Mine has an OS FS 1.20 w/pump and it's more than enough engine for sport flying and scale...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Let me guess which cylinder keeps going cold... facing the front of the engine, is it the one on the lower left? I've had the same problem with a 170R3 and it requires a glow driver for any...

RE: Club Enya

I do still have it and it's still in the box. I'm undecided about selling at this time. Will let you know when I'm ready to let it go.

RE: Club Enya

Should be plenty of power. I fly a a Top Flite Staggerwing with one and it weighs 21 lbs. Parts come from Enya. Contact info is on the website.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I had one and it was a great little engine. Not the most powerful, but ran great. I'm not aware of an updated version beyond the silver box edition.
