NJD, I have not the experience you do with 1/2A, but believe that a .10 would be about twice the power needed for a 1/2A plane. It's also about thrice too heavy compared to a .049. A .15 @ 6.3 oz...

FYI...Fox engines are made in Ft. Smith, Ar. USA.
They have been around since 1948 at least, & they still answer the phone 9-5 M/F CST. They also speak ENGLISH!

IF I was looking for an engine for something that one of the ones I already own would not do, I'd buy a new Fox in a heartbeat! Take a look at the Fox .46 ABC BB...

I really don't know if castor is needed with the new synthetics & engines out now, but was advised by some pretty smart guys that my old engines needed some castor in the fuel....
