I recently converted a Saito GK220 to gas, simply because it was too thirsty as glow. Have a look on youtube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wkkr_2KLiH8.

It was easier than I thought, and...

Two things wrong, Lots of trash in there, and jamed open exhaust valve. Both quite easy to sort out in the end. I had made a mess of setting the...

RE: 4 stroke, loss of compression after crash

Thanks guys,

I have just took a better look inside the exhaust port and I think I can see grains of sand. The exhaust was knocked of the engine during the crash, also I am flying in the Kuwait...

I recently lost a 60 size Zero to servo failure. I recovered all but the airframe but have a problem with my Saito 100. There appears to be no outward signs of damage but I have lost 90% of the...

RE: Glow to Gas conversion

I agree Charlie.

I think I will put a few tanks of nitro though it first and the give it a go on gas. I think keeping the Oil at 20/1 or more is the right way to go.
Did you use any specific...

RE: Converting Glow to Gas.

So I guess now the question is, wether its worth a try or not. I am by no means an engine expert, but it sounds like I should be getting hold of a bushed 36 con rod and maybe a crank pin.

I have...

I have checked the stroke distance of both engines and they are both 32mm, sugesting the con rods are the same length. There may be changes made internaly to the one piece head, I will check the...

RE: Converting Glow to Gas.

More good points. Yes I made a typo regarding the oil mix. It should be 20/1 for break in (I have read that 100 times over and still got it wrong). I also agree that break in would be better...

RE: Converting Glow to Gas.

Ed,

Thats quality information. Would there be any danger of a bit of trial and error, Given that I would start with a 30-1 mix with super unleaded around 97 octane without any compression...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Altitude will definately have an effect but your mates are flying at the elevation as you, and they are faster. I would keep the same prop size and change your fuel, that will demonstrate a direct...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Flyboy
I know many Saito owners are running 30% heli fuel without any ill effects ( big power boost). One thing I would advise is, use a tach, check before and after you make the change of prop and...

I think it will need 18X8 to avoid under proping it.
Campy...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
