Tower still sells it as an ARF.
I have bought 4 or 5 from them in the past 8 years.
I usually power it with the OS 55AX with a Jett muffler. Turns the 10x9 APC fast enough to go 100-105 mph. Have...

32 SX Pipe length

I know a lot of you have run the 32 with a tuned pipe, looking for a starting point for header length on a Viper and a 8.8" x ~7 prop.

One of these days...Picco .40 DF engine in it.

I've got a Picco .80 DF that I'd like to put in a scaled-up version of the SD.

You can cut down 11 x 10 to 10 x 10 or 10.5 x 10 then re-balance.

The EVo is a powerhouse that can pull some pretty good size loads as far as props go, I'd try the 9 x 9, 9 x 10, 10 x 9, and 10 x 10 APC's on the twin.

I think I would try running 9 x 9 or 9 x 10 props on the twin.
The 11" prop is just going to slow the plane down with those two big discs pushing thru the air.

RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet

Adding a fan would just circulate the hot air in the fuse. You need cool air from outside.
For any air intake, you also need an air exhaust 3 times larger than the intake.

RE: O.S. 46 FX on a pipe

That sound that you heard is what I was referring to when I had the .46 on mine. It kinda sounds like a snare drum, doesn't it? Keep an eye on the covering, though since you re-covered it it may not...

RE: O.S. 46 FX on a pipe

You are right. Checked my notes, it was the 8.8 x 8.25 that was over 20,000, 20.8k to be specific. Memory is getting foggy with age. Have not tached it with the higher pitch prop. The ariframe is...

RE: KAOS AND RELATED PLANES AND INFO

If this is the Macs muffler that you are talking about, it is not a performance muffler. It is a lightweight replacement for a stock pipe.

RE: O.S. 46 FX on a pipe

For what it's worth, I'm currently having fun with my Mach Racer with a West 50.
Couldn't get it tuned right on a 9 x 7, I think the pipe is too long. It loves the 8.8 x 9.25 pylon prop though....

The 55 turns a 10 x 9 well (over 14k) with the Jett pipe.

RE: OS AX 46 needs more power

I don't think the AX has been around 10 years, much less 15.
My experience with both has the FX faster on top end, the AX torquier at lower rpms.

RE: OS AX 46 needs more power

Higher ABEC ratings (numerically) do not mean that the bearing will spin faster nor with less drag. They are a tighter fit bearing with less clearance between the races and balls. Less clearance =...
